Kinja'd!!!

Please advise. There are drops of tar all over the front of the car and windshield. I’m currently at the beach house and there are no car-detailers/ car-washes here as this is a the third world.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Also it is 92 degrees here, is the tar going to bake into the paint?

Kerosene will dissolve tar, similar petroleum products should do the same. Also pretty much what most commercial products are

Good question. The same thing happened to Tucker back in 2015. Most of it is still there too. The only working thing I’ve found is buffing it or polishing it...and after 30 minutes of that you kinda just say “screw it”. I’ve been meaning to take him to a detailer. The tar still comes off with some polishing, but still, I don’t have the time for that! lol

Are there any stores nearby? You could get some bug and tar remover and go after it yourself.

Get a can of wax and grease remover from the auto place, duplicolor makes a widely available kind. Same thing as using gas, but is you know not rubbing fuel all over your car. try to do it on the shady side. this won’t leave anything behind or do anything to your paint. (gas doesn’t actually hurt modern paint, but it’s the wrong tool for the job.)

Try a clay bar, from an auto parts store

Try using bug remover? I had a similar situation, sparyed some big remover, let it soak in then spray with water.

There are no auto parts store here, my main concern is leaving the car in the sun until I return to the city.

Nah, this is a small beach town. My concern is leaving the car in the sun until I can return to the city and have it properly removed.

Kerosene I might find in the town, commercial products I doubt. Will kerosene do anything to the paint?

The problem is that I’m “stuck” in the beach house until Friday, this is a really small town and there are no auto places here. And the car will be under direct sunlight until my return to the city.

Clay bar will fix it at your next detail.

It’s also hard on the paint, so wax right after its rinsed off. It has to be strong to remove it.

Hot water will smear it. you could try some rubbing acohol, varsol from the hardware store should work too. trouble is with black that the wind will literally scratch it. It’ll just scrub off but your car will look like hell. something to soften it and a micro-fibre to gently wipe it away. Whatever you do, try one inconspicuous spot first, there’s a first time for everything to go wrong. hopefully we were of some help. It’s -22c here so I’d happily stop by and do it for you since it’s 92 degrees.

Nope.. when you detail it next your claybar will take care of it. If it’s really stubborn a few sprays of simple green should lift it up for the claybar to get it off.

Kerosene/dishsoap/gasoline/brake cleaner/sandpaper are crazy talk - not on my car thank you..

It should survive, but it’ll probably need to be polished to hide the evidence. gasoline does work, but under direct sun, on black I wouldn’t.

This guy right here knows what up. I have had to use a chemical like goo gone once, but that was a small patched and I definatley washed it off right after it lifted off the goo.

A clay bar can remove it. Some WD 40 can easily remove it. Any kind of Tar remover will work even if it’s been a couple of days.

You’re welcome! And I actually share your same issue. The stain in Phil’s door bothers me so much that I’m just not driving him right now. Darn it, I want the dealer to replace the panel, not just poorly clean it!

I was that way with Tucker too up until my mum started stealing my money and I eventually became jobless...it’s hard to keep up a car without monies...And now it’s like gah, he needs a lot of work now!

Stoner’s Tarmintor will dissolve it. Any auto store brand tar remover would work or even WD40, definitely don’t waste your time using polish.

Try car wax. It has organic solvents in it that might dissolve the tar. A little paint thinner on a tissue might also work. Wax the paint after.

There are some great tar and glue removers on the market but if your local car store doesn’t do stuff like Auto Finesse ObliTARate or CarPro Tar-X.

Try spraying WD40 on liberally, allow to dwell and then wipe off after about 30-40 seconds. Don’t use an abrasive cloth as you’ll micro mar the paint.

If you have clay. Use a medium clay and liberally wet the area with a strong car shampoo/water mix to lubricate the area. Don’t use any pressure, let the clay take the strain.
