Deep in the heart of a largely abandoned…err…up-and-coming part of Detroit there lies a secret. The Korean automaker Kia Motors, known for value, not performance vehicles, just dropped a Brembo-laden soju bomb on the Motor City. The Stinger GT. We were there live and got a chance to chat in-depth with Albert Biermann, Kia Motors’ Head of Vehicle Test and High Performance Development.
You’ve heard Albert’s smash hits singles: the BMW M3 and M5. As of
2016, Biermann can be found at Kia’s headquarters in Namyang, Korea. He
spearheaded the all-new Stinger GT’s chassis and performance
development that concluded with testing at Germany’s Nurburgring. If
that doesn’t give you optimism about Kia’s direction, we don’t know what
will.

That’s a very bold lead paragraph. Almost as bold as... THE NEW COROLLA! IT’S BOLD

He’s kind of late to the party. Kia has been hoovering up all the talent they can get their hands on for years. They hired Schreyer back in the mid-00s to fix their designs, which was sort of a beachhead. It has been snowballing ever since.

It’s supposed to be lined up against the 4 GT, but of coarse the new 3,4 is the same size or bigger than an E39 5 series.

Okay, so a fairly large car. I’m still going Gulia if given the choice.

The only thing I really like about the Kia is the lift back. The 4GT is probably the one I’d go with, but I’m about 35,000 beLow budget.
