Watching season 2 of The Man in the High Castle. Who knows what this is?

Kaiser Darrin.

It’s a Kaiser-Darrin, I think.

I was going to guess Kaiser something...

That front end was not thought out very well.

That’s a Kaiser-Darrin. Saw one at a car show, really neat. The doors slide into the front fenders!

Here’s something I burgled from Hemmings:

Yup, they even showed that in the episode! Such a cool feature.

I think you’re confusing deranged stupid with ordinary stupid. Plenty of thought went into it... from crazy people.

I will have to look into this show. Because any director who cast one of these cars for their characters has something special going on!

a car

When I saw that in the show I though it couldn’t have been a real car lol.

I know what you mean. Sometimes it’s hard to tell which items in the show are historical and which were just concepts at the time.

Kaiser Darrin
Edit: I was beat by a country mile.

I assume it’s here but look at the doors.

10-70 in 15 seconds... now we complain because Kia has the audacity to make a sports car with a 0-60 of more than 5 seconds

As an observation, by the end of the decade Lincoln was offering the ability to go 0-60 in something like 8 in a car weighing three tons loaded. The trick would be getting it to stop.

Holy crap. They kept showing the Darrin, and I told the guys I was watching it with that the doors slide into the fenders.
And they kept NOT SHOWING THE DOORS OPEN.
And then they finally did, and it was a massive relief.

That was reasonably quick for the time, especially for a Kaiser, since they never had one of them newfangled V8s.

Henry kaiser was an american industrialist who wanted to have his own car company. At the launch to the press he said he was going to be investinghimself with something like 3 million. at the time GM Ford were worth @300mil and the press just laughed at him
