But this one is by FAR the worst.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Be patient folks. Y’all know kinja takes a couple minutes for the link to show up. This one will be worth waiting for Manuel to show up. Yup. Manuel.

Do it.
Actually a good idea (to me at least) is a Toyota Sequoia. Reliable, nice, around your budget.

If that’s a Disco II it’ll be the worst car you’ll ever buy.

You should do it. I mean, you really probably shouldn’t.......
But you should do it

One of 96 my ass. There’s at least a dozen in my city alone, manual discos that is. He’s asking too much and chances are it needs more than a “tune up” whatever he thinks that means. I’m guessing it needs heads or an engine. That guy sounds like a jackass who’s trying to scam someone by polishing his turd.

Offer a box of fine wine and a squash racket. That’s about all it’s worth

I have no doubt. Don’t worry, I’m dumb, not THAT dumb. :)
![]() 01/08/2017 at 01:04 |

By a wide margin. I’m definitely not buying it.

Not a chance in hell.

Too sensible to interest me. That’s why I never contacted you about your car. Logical as it may be, I couldn’t get excited about the idea.

I don’t know ... I could get drunk with that wine.

I work as a Land Rover tech. I know how shite these things are. Even with perfect maintenance, they are dodgy at best.
10/10 would buy just to beat. The. Hell. Out. Of.

Holy shit! As hurrible ideas go, this is a great one.

Check and see if the rear door jams are rusted out above the rear wheels. Also check the rear section of the frame.

for 2k i would be there, poke holes in the rust and drive away at about 1800 and be happy.

Haha! I thought you might enjoy this one :)
I am NOT buying it.

Take $500 off for each light blazin’ on the dash. Which means he’ll end up having to give you $1000 to take it.

I grew up in a pretty wealthy area, so I remember how much trouble people had with these when they were new. $2000 is well past fuck-it money for me. I could see paying maybe $500 and then beating it to death.

Now THAT is a price I could live with.

My life could use that truck in the background in it though.

Buick Regal GS?
![]() 01/08/2017 at 12:50 |

That would be pretty sweet. There’s a Scrambler for sale on the local CL that’s tempting, but too rusty for me.
![]() 01/08/2017 at 12:51 |

Possibly. I’d really like to get something with a manual this time though.

fuck it money is about 1250 for me. but 2g for a 5 speed? around here (Appalachian salt belt) sounds like a solid mud buggy if the front end is sorted out
![]() 01/08/2017 at 17:55 |

Makes sense. Although I get the impression not much of anything is sorted on this particular example.

The ultimate Dr Jeckyl & Hyde. Would you believe I actually know people driving these (the diesels though) for way over 100k miles without any issues? And yet I know people trying to hang them selves after owning these for not even a year but maintenance/repairs made them almost go bankrupt? Same diesel engine. It’s like Russian Roulette. Not your best idea yet ;-)
![]() 01/10/2017 at 07:11 |

Yeah, I don’t get the impression from this particular example that I’d end up on the happy side of that gamble.
