I took a lot of pictures in 2016. A lot. After much deliberation, I picked these as my favorites. They are presented in chronological order. Enjoy.
2016 IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud being hounded by eventual race winner Juan Pablo Montoya at the season opener in St. Petersburg.
The Hallucination Of Tampa Bay; ten stacked consecutive ten second exposures during a lightning storm on the evening of Mars’ closest approach to Earth since 2003. Mars is the brightest star trail in the picture, about a third of the frame from the right side.
Random street photography from the St. Pete Pride parade.
The old Cass Street railraod bridge over the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa.
From downtown Tampa
Sunrise and a Karmann Ghia at a Cars and Coffee in Tampa.
The tags hanging from the doors say “Remove Before Flight”; from the same Cars and Coffee in Tampa.
Ken Stringfellow of The Posies absolutely killing it at a show in a very small record store in Tampa.
Candid street photo of Jen Sandwich, an amazing artist and even more amazing friend.
From downtown Tampa
From downtown Tampa
Peter Hook (formerly of Joy Division and New Order) playing a set of his former bands’ music at The Ritz in Ybor City.
The Tampa Museum Of Art
I took this as a Christmas gift for both my mother and mother-in-law. I had it developed on to a metallic paper; the same process for making prints from film. At 24 x 16 inches, it looks amazing.

All of them look great!
I especially like those architecture photos that really throw you of when looking at them, I can’t possibly imagine in which orientation some of those are supposed to be.

Thanks. I really enjoyed taking those. Making something so large, like a building, seem out of place and out of context is fun and challenging.
Here’s a screen shot from google maps to give a little context to one of my pics.

Wow, it’s completely different from how I imagined it to be.

I LOVE your wide variety of photos. I’ve started opening my range as well. I really want to try and get on your level this year, especially with the architecture shots. Your work definitely inspires me to try harder! I can’t wait till it warms up a bit...

Thank you! I didn’t know I was on a level. Your shots are amazing as well.

Definitely a level. I feel I need to get to know the camera a lot more. And possibly get a better lens...

Great selection! your architecture stuff is phenomenal. I’d like to think I just have uninteresting architecture around me, but I’m sure you’d come up with something awesome.
If pressed I’d maybe pick this as a favorite.
Is that all done in one shot or is this a composite?

It’s ten consecutive ten second exposures stacked in Photoshop, so it’s a 100 second exposure, but the slight breaks for each shot can be seen in the light streaks from the plane as it got closer to me, which kind of works. It makes it a little more weird. The curvy lights across the bottom were from a paddle boarder who had LEDs on his board and oar.

I’m sure you have more interesting architecture than St Pete and Tampa.

I’m having a hard time phrasing this, but I like the work in your fun and the fun in your work, and your comfort with both things and people.
(I gathered some pics to share, then realized I hadn’t asked anybody for authorship here. Doh.)

Thank you! I’m actually fairly uncomfortable taking pictures of people (with the exception of bands) but every once and while, the situation works out and I get a shot I really like.
I do not have the power to grant authorship, but if you can post it to Photography, i’ll post it to Oppo for more to see.

Well, your friend with the great name has a good serious face, I imagine it capable of a quick smile too.
Alright, I guess I missed that this was shared from Oppo. Given the advance warning, I should’ve been more prepared.

Agrajag gave me a heads-up mid holidaze and then had to give me another nudge yesterday (I’ve been a touch preoccupied with getting some media on the Congressional floor for these ... upcoming hearings).
If you want to post yours to White Noise and then give me a heads up I’d be happy to share them at Photography.
:-)

Sooo much here to notice.
The concert-goer in me loves how you caught the musicians at work.
(The guitar star!)
I’m also generally not an “I gotta drive that!” kind of car person, but I wouldn’t be shocked if someone called you to license that Kharmann Ghia shot. (Are they even making those anymore? A classic shot of a classic.)
And of course as one who loves to make prints for presents (no matter how much of a pain, LOL) – I find your choice of sunset shots to put on a metallic print just stunning.
But my actual favorite is the one of the museum, because you made another work of art out of the place that’s normally only perceived as the place that show the other works of art.
Love the work.

I’m humbled that someone is inspired by anything I’ve done. I must return the favor. You and everyone here inspire me. I see new, better ways to frame shots. I get exposed to subjects and styles that are not my strong suits. When I post pictures here, I want them to be the best I can do as the standard has been set high by everyone’s exceptional work.
I’ll leave this comment here, but I need to make this in to post for everyone to see.
