They are probably beat to shit V6 models already living in the weeds.

That car needs TLC and I need a car... I really want that Challenger even in that shape.

I used to want a old e-body, trust me you really, really don’t want one. (somewhat professional fixer of rust.)

I have never seen an old MOPAR stored like this that wasn’t in dire need of major surgery.

I give Chrysler credit back then, they were the best at designing 5 mph compliant bumpers which weren’t enormous battering rams.

Some examples of that generation started looking that way in the early to mid 1980s.
The current car has been out for, what, 9-10 years now? The oldest examples are already pretty cheap buy here/pay here lot material, but modern cars hold up a lot better, so very few of them look that bad. I’d say, maybe another 6 years or so, and some of the ‘08s and ‘09s will start getting to that condition.

about 35 years, if my experience is anything to go by.

My guess is about 15 years from when they were manufactured. Its one of those typical cars that’ll end up in the wrong hands with the 3rd/4th/xth owner who just doesn’t have the interest/money to maintain it anymore. One curb jumped too hard and it’ll end up in someones driveway rotting away. You can already see the first Chargers getting into the beater territory, especially if they have been rental/fleet cars before (cheaper to buy for the kind of people mentioned above).

that’s too bad, I grew up on Lee Iaccoca era Dodges, from that point of view the charger is a masterpiece. It happened to the original chargers too.

Considering the sheer masses of RT and SRT8 Chargers produced, Im not too worried about the V6 ones falling into the wrong hands.

I’ve seen some charger R/Ts in the wrong hands, Mopar guys: Ruining everything for everyone, Dodge never made a car that wasn’t rare/fast/valuable.

I saw a picture of a newer red Challenger with weeds growing all over it.
