About $10 worth of hardware and just over one can of paint, and this is what I came up with:
Flashback, here’s how it looked before:
At the four corners of the lid I installed eyelets so I can attach my shovel and snow broom with bungie cords. I might be asking too much of the lid, since the ‘hinges’ I engineered are just the latches with a couple of bolts run through them:
To my credit, it DOES work, though I should probably epoxy the latches along with the bolts. Also, it wants to flip 180 degrees when you open it...I need to install a couple of tethers so it goes just past vertical. Alternatively, I might do away with the hinges and use it as a removable lid as Plano intended.
The only other thing I need is a rope so that I can pull it towards the back of the truck to get stuff out of it. That’ll make my life a little easier.
All in all I’m happy. If I find something heavier that would work better with the stuff on the lid I could make a change, but it’s pretty good for now.

Whoa whoa whoa.. I’m lost;
I would figure out a latch to get onto those cargo floor hooks.. would hate to have that thing coming over the seat in an emergency.
