So I’ve started having a hyper flash in/with(?) my left turn signal. Now I think the cause of that would be a short in the turn signal circuit after the bulb, because a short/less resistance causes hyper flash and the bulb is still getting power (lighting up) so it would have to be on the ground side of the bulb.
Am I on the right track?
Also it’s stock Halogen bulbs not LEDs.
And one more thing. When I turn the hazards both sides blink at the correct rate. Could the right side circuit being closed cause it to act correctly or could it be a problem with the blinker stalk?

Hazards working is normal, my guess is again the bad ground or something as simple as a bad contact between your bulb and the base-doohicky-thingie-bingie. Is occassionally a problems on my wife’s car with her right blinks. After a few months of bumping down the highways, the housing for the bulb will loosen and the contact won’t be as good.

Are you sure all the bulbs are good? Less working bulbs = faster flashing on that side.

my old escort would do that when a fuse blew. check those too

I’ll double check. That would make since. The turn signals are two bulbs in tandem, on each side, but with the hazards they blink at the same time I think. Could be why the hazards work correctly, but the signal doesn’t.

I checked all the fuses after it started happening and they were all good. Although I guess that would kill the short circuit theory. I think it’s a blown bulb as someone else said since there’s two bulbs for each signal.

ah yes that makes sense. mine was always blowing the fuse but still worked so i just left it after a while

Winner winner chicken diner! The rear bulb was out. Unfortunately it was unrelated to my other electrical issue that remains unresolved.
