I’m going to Edmonton to look at this Challenger tomorrow, needs brakes to drive, mostly worried about rust on the thing, what’s the right price to pay for this beast?

CP.
1.) I do not think that is its real trim tag.
2.) Quarter panel, rocker, and roof body filler. Body looks rough.
Can’t give you a price, but it’s not $7900

Hmm Hagerty thinks they didn’t offer the “Rallye” package in 1974.
edit: looks like it gets confusing between 73 and 74:

If you are trying to use the Hagerty evaluation tools, this is probably a condition 6.

Tag looks alright to me. What’s wrong with?

Were they really attached with two different phillips head screws at the factory? Neither of these look like factory screws.

The Philips head is OE. Two different sizes, maybe not so much. Google “mopar fender trim tag”.
Edit: in any case, it doesn’t look fudged to me. Plus the tag decodes into his description. I dunno why he would be lying about a 318 car.

Honestly it looks like a driven hard-put away wet rust bucket project hell. $750 USD at best. You could get a no rust, no dent Datsun 240z-280z for $8k. Just think what 6 cylinders would be like.

Yeah, I know it’s phillips screws but they don’t look like that. I guess that’s the Chevy guy in me being super critical.
That decode shows it’s probably real but has been touched at one point.

To be fair, it looks like every inch of that thing has been touched at some point. Would be very, very careful.

The filler is a big red flag to me, especially in the rockers.

It’s going to be swiss cheese if you media blast it. I live in Northern Alberta as well. I know what that car will look like underneath.

I already have a Datsun, I want a muscle car. I appreciate your input, I’ll be wary when checking it out. Unfortunately, this is the kinda Challenger you get when you pay less than 1k. The market on these is serious stuff!

The trim tag matches the car, even if the screws don’t. The body does look a little suspect, I shall be bringing a sharp screwdriver!

It really doesn’t look that bad. The scariest part for me is the part that’s been painted black for some reason, but I won’t know until I see it!
