Oppo: Kauffman tire is offering $160 off today so I’m going to get some tires because I need to anyway. What’s a good all season tire? I drive a lot (92k miles in 2 years of owning my 3). Should I go back to eco saver tires?

I’ve put General Altimax RT43's on two cars now. Great tire at a very reasonable price.

+1. Used these on my impala and got 75k out of each set. Excelent tire in the rain and dry. My only knock is the snow handling, but what can you expect from an all season.

I put Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring in an H speed rating on the Cruze last summer/fall and so far a year in am quite happy with them. They were relatively inexpensive, and have been holding up well so far. They have relatively low road noise, good wet/dry grip, and I didn’t notice a change in fuel economy over the OEM tires (though I don’t think they were Eco/LRR to begin with). I even drove them in the snow several times last year, and while definitely not as good as dedicated snow tires, I was quite happy with how they handled it.

More aggressive than a traditional all season (I.E. I am worried about it snowing before I can go home from school and grab my Blizzaks but they are fine even in torrential rain) but I have Hankook Ventus V2 Concept2s on my Mini and have no issues with them. Enough grip to have fun and they don’t have an uncomfortable ride (I am running 205/50 R16 IIRC). Can’t say much about wear because they were new when I got the car about 4,000 mi ago but they are not wearing in any strange way. As a low end performance type tire I am happy with them.

Boooo No Season Tires. That is an unfortunately large amount of miles to drive, you crazy lol. I drove a little less than half of that in that time period and thought I was nuts. Definitely not eco tires though, anything but that. I cant stand highway offramps putting me into tire-squealing territory. High treadware summers are where it’s at! I would say a nice set of UHP all season tires could suffice but then they will be terrible in the winter anyways.

Falken Ziex are great, if they have them.

I live in the south where real winter weather is rare. I know temperature is a factor for grip but if weather is bad enough to need snow/winter tires everything shuts down anyway and there’s no reason to drive. I’ve had 4-5 day weekends because it snowed on Sunday.

The car came with eco tires which weren’t terrible but not great. When it came time to replace them the guy convinced me to go with run flats. I could squeeze some life out of them a little more but I hate them and Kauffman has the special going on today. (Go Falcons!)

Oh yeah, you definitely dont need all seasons then! Do they make a Direzza Dz102 in your size? Was ~$70 a tire for my Miata (205/50/R15) and these things last forever. Sure they don’t offer amazing grip and they kinda suck in the rain but for the price they are a solid choice. I have found in general though that non-autocross summer tires are cheaper than any decent all season.
