Let’s just turn each other to shreds, aye. Get in a bunker, grab all the TG2, CHOC, Ignition and other car films and shows you can get, provisions good for 4000 people that can last a year tops, and have at least two people on periscope duty.

If it’s still status quo (Hillary), we rise as if everything’s normal. If not, then those who will sow up on The Grand Tour will need the best power suit ever made.

I will be watching it. Its a duty as a citizen to be informed. I watched both nominee acceptance speeches, not because I had interest, but because I do want to know what is coming out of their mouths. Not good, but important to at least acknowledge.

So yes, I may not catch it live, but I will make an attempt to watch it all the way through.

If nothing else, Im curious about the “no commercial breaks” thing. I used to work in radio/tv, so when advertising doesnt air, the money isnt there. Im curious about how its going to go, and if something newsworthy will occur.

And maybe I shouldn’t speak politics on Oppo, but I find it pretty alarming that people are so dismissive of BOTH candidates. I can understand the Trump hate, but for the life of me can’t figure out how anyone can consider Hillary to be just as bad.

Speaking as a registered Republican, I’m not afraid to admit that she is rediculously qualified, mentally tougher than any other living politician, and has a textbook presidential temperament.

And all the undecided Bernie supporters should love her since her NY Senate voting record is more Liberal than 70% of her democratic colleagues (on par with Elizabeth Warren and only slightly right of Bernie). But I guess Bill playing Hide The Master Sword with Monica has really tarnished the Clinton name amongst my elders (I was only 3 at that time).

Kinja'd!!!1

You are free to discuss politics here, it’s just that if you are overly glib about it, some very thoughtful Oppos will look past your remarks, which choice I respect.

When Trump first started to gain momentum, I wanted him to be a serious alternative to Hillary. I am a registered Democrat, but I practice a conservative religion and I am a public school educator, so it’s hard to be a “reliable conservative.” Or to categorize me at all.

But Trump is bad news. I am convinced that he does not want to be president, and that he wants only to burnish his brand.

I have dear friends who love their country and are reliably conservative, and I respect their views. I do not think I can make a case to them that they should vote for HRC, but I think it is reasonable to ask them not to vote for Donald Trump.

Kinja'd!!! Rusty Vandura - www.tinyurl.com/keepoppo > marshknute
09/26/2016 at 14:24

Kinja'd!!!1

I also believe that if HRC were running against, say, Mitt Romney, there would be much less loathing of HRC. For one, Romney would not be fomenting all of the misogyny and racism that Trump is. And Mitt might beat HRC handily and fairly. I’d pick Mitt Romney over HRC. It’s just that when he ran, he was running against BHO and nobody could have wrested my BHO vote(s) from me.

No, I think that, in the past, candidates were chosen by their party because they were electable. Candidates who were popular with the base, and might influence independent or swing voters, were the norm. Now, we have candidates who inspire outright loathing by their opponents. I think the Democrats, in their blind drive to see Hillary nominated, have managed to find an opponent for Trump who is not entirely electable. Had they chosen anybody else, this thing would have been over months ago.

Did you know what Aleppo was before the incident? I try to be pretty aware of world issues, I had no idea.

I get your response to the above statement will be “but you’re not running for president”. You’re right. But as president he’ll also have the most skilled set of researchers and daily briefings from the CIA of all world issues. Focus on him not one tid bit of information that slipped his mind.

For the record I believe it was Wall Street Journal that ran the article busting him on that....it took them THREE corrections to their own article to properly describe Aleppo.

Listen, I get it. There’s lots of shit going on in the world, and it’s pretty much impossible for one person to keep it all straight in their head. That said, the fact that he didn’t recognize (or remember) the word Aleppo makes it pretty easy to infer that he hasn’t been spending much time learning or thinking about one of the greatest humanitarian crises of our time.

09/27/2016 at 15:18

And I get it too. I also think, if this is such a big issue for our presedential candidates that if Trump was asked that question with no lead up to it he would’ve said the same thing. That’s no endorsement, I know. But at the same time Johnson came out and said it was a fair question, he should’ve known better and apologized while promising to do better.

Catch Trump off guard about a city in the middle east and he’ll say he wants to drop a nuke on it without knowing why or what’s going on there.

To me Aleppo is a non-issue in concern to Johnson’s candidacy because he can learn, adjust, and adapt.
