!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It seems a bit too good for $1000, and the owners inability to take pictures, and the painted wheels concern me. Still.

Hmmmm

White slicer wheels were a factory option.

That being said, it looks good but parts availability for these cars is really spotty. I just sold my ‘93 for $400 because it was down on power and nobody (including ASE master certified mechanics) could figure out why. The poor car is still trading hands, awaiting either a cruel fate at the scrap yard or salvation at the hands of a better diagnostician than I.

Oh I didn’t know that. I still don’t like them, but it’s good to know they’re stock.

Damn, that’s too bad

Good: HOLY SNIKES, IT HAS A MANUAL!

Bad: rebuilt title

I meant to add a note since insuring vehicles with rebuilt/salvage/branded titles vary by state. Such a pain.

Up here in BC as long as it’s been inspected and titled rebuilt, it’s just as easy to insure as a clean titled car. It’s the salvage ones that get more difficult. My concern is the quality of repair done to fix whatever totalled it

ASE’s aren’t that hard and don’t mean as much as people think. I’ve known a few ASE certified guys who couldn’t diagnose a no start condition on a car with no engine. I would have suggested that you go around dealers and see if any have an old guy who worked on these when they were new. Perhaps you can by it back for half what you sold it for?

I went to three different Ford dealers and four different independent mechanics, one of whom specialized in first/second gen SHOs years back. Only one even wanted to look at it, had the car for two months with no luck in figuring out what was wrong. The SHO guy declined to even work on it, said he’d gotten out of that game and was tired of working on them.

Wow. Further reinforcing my opinion that low line dealers suck (not all of them mind you, or that high line dealers can’t suck). My shop would have had the guys working on it and probably would have taken a massive loss on time spent versus hours billed, mostly because we don’t want to be defeated by some old technology.

Believe me, I had a love/hate relationship with that car. I had it running well for about a year, and it was amazing: 30 miles per gallon highway, super comfortable for long distance cruising, and I personally had her up to 131 miles per hour with no signs of letting up. Then she started very gradually losing power over the course of several months, until she could barely go up a slight grade in first gear.. It was a really sad dilemma that I could not diagnose or fix.
