Jesus, that’s expensive. You can get an iM for $19,995...

It’s overpriced

I mean it’s also a top trim level, more than likely fully optioned dealer show off model.
It starts at $22k apparently.

I can build a $27k non-ST Focus hatch so...
Top trim level compact cars are approaching $30k, get used to it people. It’s only gonna get worse.

But will it still be available with a diesel?

Well you got me there. An iM is completely option-less save for goofy add-ons in the configurator.

In the Gen II Cruze Canada/US service manual this shows up under Engine/Propulsion
Under transmission there’s also a 9-speed auto.

Good news as wages will continue to fall. Expecting 9-year loans to be offered soon by dealerships.

I can see it’s Vauxhall Astra derived but I can’t tell if it’s current gen Astra or not, the window line screams previous gen but I doubt Chevy would keep hold of old platform the Cruze, especially seeing as it no longer competes with the Astra in any market (in Europe Chevy was the budget version of the Opel/Vauxhall cars).

Also, I don’t know if the iM would compare more with the LS or LT Cruze (I genuinely don’t know what the iM has as standard equipment,) but the Cruze hatch doesn’t get an LS trim level for whatever reason.

Hm, very interesting.
But six-speed diesel hatchback please. I loved driving my girlfriend’s diesel cars.

The hatch’s service manual says Cruze GenII/Astra NB4, I think that’s the new/current Astra, but I’m not 100%.

Seems to me that they are planning to take on the Mazda3 when it comes to trims and price. While that isn’t a bad plan but they still have to convince people shopping in this segment to buy American in a segment dominated by imports.
I will add it to the list of cars to drive when we replace our corolla.

I really, really, really like the new Cruze. But I can’t say I’d ever actually buy one, because the Forte SX-T exists. Sure, the Cruze probably drives a bit better, but the Forte is a far better deal IMO
47 more horsepower from a 1.6t powerplant, compared to the 1.4t in the Cruze. And you get cool wheels.
I’m mainly just glad manufacturers are getting serious about hatches again in NA. I think it’s currently only the Sentra that doesn’t come in some sort of hatch form, and I have a hunch that they’ll eventually bring over the Pulsar because of it.

I’m fairly certain it’s the new one, if you look at the old Astra you can see what I mean.

The window line definitely looks almost exactly the same.

I’d dig an SX. They’re pretty damn quick, too, and insurance is pretty cheap. Although their fuel economy leaves a lot to be desired.

same as the Equinox, then. so both will have the 9T50 transaxle?
I wonder if GM is thinking it can pick up all of those disaffected VW TDI owners. We’ll see.
edit: there’s no word on the diesel on the Cruze hatch page at Chevy’s site, and no build & price yet. I’m wondering if that is a car the dealer ordered but isn’t in inventory yet.

Yup, 9T50 is what Service Information shows for the Cruze.
I’ve noticed Chevy is slow to update their website when it comes to their build & price tool. I was seeing face lifted Sonics on the road before I could build one online.

It looks nothing like the current astra at all.
Not that it’s a problem ifs not the new Astra, the old Astra was a good car, even if the 276hp VXR wasn’t as popular as the GTI and ST over here.

Damn, that looks good enough to eat.
Ya know, GM has a pretty decent 2L turbo 4. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they will get that peanut butter all up in that chocolate.

We didn’t get the hot version of the Astra before....BUT THAT’S BECAUSE YOU’RE GOING TO STUFF AN LT-1 UNDER THE HOOD AND MAKE AN AWD V8 MANUAL HOT HATCH, RIGHT GM!? RIGHT!?!?!

I’m sure the Kia has a nicer interior and would be more reliable than the Cruze, too. For that matter, it’s nicer looking, but GM is clearly learning to leverage their cars/platforms from other markets to become more competitive...

It’s a tougher call than you would think.
But from a personal standpoint, the Kia’s interior looks a lot less cluttered and a lot more ergonomically sound. There’s still a bit too much fake chrome in the Chevy for my liking.

Probably not. The Astra, its European platform mate can only handle engines up to 1.6L. The Astra VXR is expected to get a 1.6 turbo four with 280hp.
