More news on Japanese cars you never asked about! To celebrate selling ALMOST 1,000 RLX sedans in the US this year, Acura has dropped the base model that started at $50,950. Some features may have been shuffled around but, yeah! That’s your updated !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !! If you’re curious, Acura has sold 951 RLXs in the US this year. The Kia K900...looks like 553! You’ll find the RLX in Acura showrooms between the $40k TLXs and $190k NSX. It’s the car with the tumbleweeds collected against the front passenger side doors.

Really don’t like any cars in Acura’s lineup. I’d rather get a fully loaded Accord.

Does anyone else still laugh when they see “Earth Dreams?”

I actually saw a 2G RL (the car the RLX replaced) yesterday. Had to do a double take cause I’d never seen one before and it took me a moment to process what it was.

I can totally see this ad in GTA:

The all-new Dinka Chavos, now with the Wet Dreams engine featuring water injected turbo.

My friend was shopping between a Civic and an ILX, and he ended up with the latter. Lease rates, manufacturer discounts and the dealer’s desire to get it off the lot were in its favour.

Every single RLX I’ve seen on the road (which amounts to about half a dozen) have been FWD variants. Every last one of them and I don’t get it. I live in WNY - right smack dab in the snow belt. AWD cars sell like candy up here, and Acura loves advertising its SH-AWD system.

I can’t understand why every RLX I’ve seen on the road is FWD. Especially for a “flagship” sedan.

Because they are former fleet cars mostly (like most K900s). Almost got into a 2014 RLX back in Februaury because it was only $32,000 with 14,000 miles. If it isn’t the Sport Hybrid then it probably wasn’t bought new by that owner.

Acura currently has one of those lineups that are not bad cars per say, but at any price and in any category I could find something else that would suit me better. Apart from the NSX, that’s pretty cool.

The AWD TLX isn’t doesn’t have the SH-AWD torque vectoring system found in the TLX and MDX.

The TLX with AWD is actually a hybrid where the gas engine reaches only the the front wheels and there are three electric motors: one on the front axle and one powering each of the rear wheels. I don’t know anything else about this system or if it works as well as the torque vectoring on the TLX. Haven’t even seen any reviews of it in major publications. Anyway, they market it as SH-AWD but it’s actually completely different in every way.

It’s basically like the NSX’s hybrid system but the entire layout is flipped front-rear.

Wikipedia says they starting selling the TLX AWD hybrid in 2014 but the Acura website says “Hybrid arrives fall 2016".
