To start off this post, I found a facelifted V6 Camry SE Coupe! — with a branded title, doesn’t run and needs a timing belt. And a little rough around the edges... [sigh]

Here is a suspiciously cheap (probably due to high miles?) 3rd gen 4Runner nearby.

How about this clean looking Bronco II? No, I do not hate the Bronco II.

Or perhaps this loaded MANUAL Mazda6 wagon? Which is unfortunately being sold be one of the more awful dealerships in the state.

And here’s one for TheHondaBro. A 2-door XJ, I6, automatic, right in LynnHood.

While that is a surprisingly nice Bronco 2 (possibly the nicest left), it is NO substitute for XJ!

Quick, save Zoidberg from himself...distract him with better Toyotas!

Honest question: was the XJ as beloved when it was in production as it is now?

Not trolling, just ignorant (but admire them).

There are no interesting ones for sale right now. Lots and lots of automatic Camry sedans, 90's Corolla wagons, stuff like that.

I believe so. They sold nearly 3 million of them from 1984-2001 with only 1 refresh in 1997.

Thanks! I’ve been wondering...

Aye. I’ve owned both... I had the B2 for around 8 months, and I’ve had the XJ for roughly 14 years- if that says anything.

Also, contrary to what that ad says, the ‘84 B2 got the even-more-awful carbureted 2.8 V6.

Too bad that XJ is an auto, it looks super clean.

I would probably stay private party for this price range of vehicle. One particularly annoying thing dealers tend to do is purposely through away any and all maintenance records. I still don’t know why. The other reason is that usually these cars are the crap that people roll into the dealership on their last legs as a trade-in.

The dealership with pretty them up and throw the cheapest new tires on they can to cover any uneven wearing issues, and claim absolutely nothing is wrong.

With private party sales you get to talk to the actual owner of the vehicle and get a feel for how they treated it, as well as the fact that most people are legitimately honest about any issues with the car, and usually have decent records.

Just my 2 cents, I’ve bought and sold waayyy too many cars over the years, and all but one were done on Craigslist.

The front end on that 4runner is “off”, plus there’s a nasty little dent.

Figues, considering many later 3rd gens are still commanding 7k to 11k

Something to be said for Toyota reliability.

Sure is. Though my leak persists in the pickup. This close to just water sealing the clutch pedal at the firewall.

Shit that’s still going on? Can you find a replacement cowl? Maybe swap it out and see if that helps. Shouldn’t be hard to color match.

I think I’ve proven it’s not the cowl. You should see my latest silicone job. It only leaks when the car is slanted towards the driver’s side. If it’s parked level or slanted the opposite way, it never leaks.

That’s weird and only one side. There has to be a gutter or some piece of trim in there that’s diverting water back in.

On a day it’s not raining, I will take my garden hose and spray everywhere to replicate water leaking. IT NEVER DOES. It is very frustrating and I don’t keep the water out, mold will try to collect anywhere

That would never happen on an Allroad. You'd spray it and it would stop working all together.
