I dunno, I think I’d be embarrassed
to put antique plates on this car.
I certainly am not making fun of this guys ride......but damn, you usually see antique plates on a different class of vehicle.
At least it’s a survivor.

My mom had one of these long ago and it was crap.

If PA is the same as Washington that plate means he doesn’t have to buy license tabs for it every year. Somebody who drives an Omni is going to know that little money saving factoid.

Neal Stephenson featured an Omni GLH in Zodiac. It made a special place in my heart for the Omni.

In Ontario, you can obtain historical vehicle plates for vehicles that are 30 years old. You know what that makes a historical/classic car?

Just like the IROC Camaro in my development with antique plates.

There is one of these in my neighborhood, it looks freaking MINT. Old people have to be involved.

Amusingly, that’s not the only one around.
The Plymouth Horizon I saw at Das Awkscht Fescht this year had a PA Historic Plate.
Possibly more appropriate would be an Omni GLH or GLHS with said plate.

Saw NY collector plates on an ‘88 Mazda pickup over the summer. It was in better shape than the vehicle pictured, but not by much.....

Does this mean the mullet is an antique hair style?

Around here I see a Festiva and a Chevette that have antique plates. In general, my area of Virginia has a lot of 80s and early 90s cars with them. I even have a set.

And when your 180SX doesn’t run it’s because racecar .
Justifying pieces of shit is all part of being a car enthusiast.

I had the same reaction the first time I saw a Pinto with antique plates. Pennsylvania lets you drive a car with classic plates for personal use (EG, not to shows or for maintenance) one day a week, so for a rarely used second car, it can make sense as a money saver.

My first car was an Omni. It was tempting to do this when it hit 25 years old. Mostly as a joke.

I almost forgot....my father-in-law helped my sister-in-law buy one of these brand new when she went off to college and law school in Cleveland. There was so much rust after 5 years, it wouldn’t pass PA inspection.

Even this one has a bent front bumper...
