Yup. Now debating whether to get it fixed before or after hibernation. The storage place is climate-controlled.

Now do I share photos of the Maxima’s large rust spots...

Should probably get on that sooner rather than later, just in case.

bit of touch up paint will do wonders. prevents it from spreading if ever.

Yeah, and it doesn’t help on the same panel I actually crushed it once with a jack, so it’s actually rusting there too. Was going to get it fixed after the winter but maybe this will make me fix it now instead.

I can’t tell if it’s the clearcoat bubbling or I already touched it and it’s starting to rust again. That general area has some clearcoat failure which I was going to attend to.

Could be my fault somewhere, sometime, I don’t even know anymore. After all she was my DD and subject to DD abuse for several years.

Ontario’s not far off, but guess we’re still better than Quebec. I can see why people say don’t buy Quebec cars after working on my F30.

It is the edge of the fender though, depending on the location, I wouldn’t be super concerned. On the bumpers it’s kind of meh, they’re plastic/fiberglas, so it’s not a rust issue. If it’s on the hood, I would probably look to fix it eventually , but since that’s a separate panel, nothing mission critical. The rear fenders, that would scare me because they’re not the easiest panels to replace if they get infected with tin worm.

But I also have no idea how well the Solstice was assembled. For example, second generation Neons only have rust proofing on the outside of the body panels, not the inside. The rockers and rear fenders are known to literally rot away from the inside out. Put a hole in my rocker just below the b pillar in my 04 SXT. Glad I never needed to rely on that structural component ever.

If the panels are pretty well rust treated from the factory, then I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. I would probably look to let a paint shop touch it up late spring or mid-fall, those can be somewhat quiet and less busy times from body shops (at least from the experiences I’ve had).

Your best bet is to figure out when “collision” season starts due to “inclement” weather and go during the opposite of that. Good luck!

It is the rear fender, which is also one piece with the side body. I don’t want to imagine how much a hydroformed panel will cost (or if it will even be available), so I rather fix it sooner than having to replace it. I have other scratches and dents to fix to might as well do it all when they mix up the paint.

Although I think they did a pretty good job overall though, the only other surface rust was in the underbody and the hand-weld joints, which aren’t spreading at all.
