Brainstorming with my wife. I want to keep the Beetle, but I'm getting the itch to get one of these fancy new Bimmers. Solution: get a cheap one that'll give me a low lease payment. Solution:
Oh darn...

>”Cheap”
>$41k USD
You and I live in very different worlds.

I’m happy to admit that I don’t know enough about bimmers, but that seems crazy. That’s F-Type lease money
(Actually more, my local dealer has them at $489 a month, which is so tempting, but I haven’t had to make a car payment in over a decade, and I’m not sure I want to start.)

Seems like a crazy idea to begin with anyway. You haven’t had your new job for too long.

Yeah. As big of a homer as I am, even I will admit that is way too much for a lease payment. You could buy a very nice used BMW with that monthly payment.

Yeah but with your employee discount how much would it REALLY be?
![]() 09/18/2016 at 13:33 |

I’m sure that $489 a month you see is just a made up number that is only there to get you in the door. There are no F Types specced out at that price at the dealer.
F Types lease around $700+

What I got from a 500 dollar a month(Inc taxes) zero down lease.
V8 455 hp faster than a m3 and sounds way more wicked.

I'm kind of interested to find out now. I have zero interest in an F-Type that isn't BRG, and I'm sure they wouldn't have one, so it wouldn't make any difference to me.

Edit for putting my response in the wrong section. But that’s not my payment. That’s a generated lease using retail sticker price.

Even if it is not possible (Which I don’t think so) I am very curious how the dealer got to dream up that number.

I’d try CPO tbh. That seems high for what is the base 2 series.

I had a customer order a 75k 440xi the other day. Selling luxury cars are insane.
![]() 09/18/2016 at 13:53 |

That’s not what my price would be. And how many 10s of thousands would you have to put down to get an F-Type for that payment?
Iguarantee that’s with 10% down, plus first payment, plus freight, plus all the rest of your normal fees.
![]() 09/18/2016 at 13:53 |

So would you get any type of employee discount then?

I really like the 2-series and the previous generation 1-series. In particular, I like that old 128i with the NA straight-six. Still way out of my price range, even on a lease.

It will be worth less than $30k after a year, so pretty cheap for the next owner. I bought my wife’s bimmer with only 28k miles on it and a CPO warranty for $22k. Thing stickered for $40k a year and a half before I bought it. My payments with me purchasing the vehicle were probably less than the lease.

True. But you could get a used 2013 base cayman/boxster for $50k....

Wut ._.

Noice!

Oh yeah. Every option, all wheel drive, B58 engine. The equivelant M4 vert would be $89k though...
![]() 09/18/2016 at 14:52 |

Absolutely. My price would be significantly less.

And I’m in third place on the board my second month so far. So new or old doesn’t make much sense to use as a barometer in this situation.

Well the N52 Is dead. But other than the sound, I actually prefer the new 2.0 Turbo. Not in the larger applications, but for the 2 and 3 the 2.0t is a worthwhile advancement.

If I told you, you wouldn’t believe me.

Please tell me! A ballpark would be okay if you don’t feel comfortable saying it like “Under xxx a month”.
I always chop it up with my MB SA when I bring my car in. He leases an E for his wife for under $300 a month which is a STEAL for that kind of car. It’s not fully loaded but definitely well equipped.
I envy you! Glad the new job is working out well.

Easy, reading the fine print will show that this price is only available with $10k due at signing with a trade in valued at $xxx. Just like on car commercials that say you can lease this brand new car for $309 a month but fail to mention no dealership with have a car on the lot with those barebones specs.

Plus a reach around!!!!! I can’t imagine a getting an F Type for that price, hell Jag doesn’t even own their own Financial arm!

Run a center employee lease on a 2016 i3 rex.. go ahead, now laugh your ass off...and valencia on a 230 is gross, we just had one that was a sold order...
![]() 09/18/2016 at 16:26 |

I would do it. I know what BMW centernet leases are like being a MINI dealer and it’s stupid to pass up.
![]() 09/18/2016 at 16:50 |

I think the math would work out to under $400 a month with only my first payment out of pocket.
And thanks! I feel like it’s gonna be a good dealer to build a home at.

Speaking of. I had a customer phone in yesterday saying he saw one of our commercials saying he could lease a 320 for 269 a month. Then he got pissed when it wasng just come in and sign and pay 269 a month.

We had one in for maintenance and I loved it. But I have an irrational love for orange cars.

Right? My wife is going through this lock of being cheap and wanted an HRV. We’re gonna be paying as much when she gets her X1 as we woulda for an HRV.

Well it’s just that you’ve changed jobs a few times in the last two years. I just err on the side of caution. Life happens.

Every time I leave somewhere, it’s my decision though. Knock on wood, I’ve never been asked to leave a job. I think that means something.

I blame the marketing team. Some companies can have accurate commercials though- a doorman at my job leased 2014 Honda Civic for $189 a month for his wife and that’s exactly what I had seen on the Honda commercials.

It’s absolutely is the marketing guys. The fact of the matter is you can lease a car for $0 a month if you’re willing to pay the full bill up front, it’s called a one-pay lease. And they’re doing the same kinda of math advertising these $35-40k cars for less than $350 a month. The worst part is that when they do tell you to put X amount down to get that payment, they don’t include fees. Like yes, the commercial only said you had to put $3k down, but that’s in addition to your tax, tag, title, processing, and acquisition fees. Only one of those is a dealer fee. The rest either go to BMW of or the state. But because BMW told them it was only $3k down, we’ve become the dickbags who are now asking for $7k down to get to that price.
Oh, and the lease special is for a base model without any options. Which, for a brand like BMW which has an a la carte style option approach, means that you’re getting a base car with not much on it. But at least it’ll drive fantastically.

It just seems like a waste to me. Then again, I’m not in a position to blow $75k on a car I’m really not that into to know what its like to be them lol
If I really wanted that, I could get a used M$ vert for that price?
