Finished night shift, now have the next three nights off.
Then pleasant surprise, the Teeling Single Grain Irish whiskey I ordered, arrived two days early.
Went out to a great butchers just out side of town and got some local produced alcohol from Cumbria’s only distillery.
First is ‘The One’, blended whisky,
Second is ‘The Lakes Vodka’,
Third is ‘The Lakes Gin’,
Fourth is ‘Kendal Mint Cake Liquer’.
And 15 cans of draught Guinness.
Life is so hard sometimes.

I ran out of Talisker 10 for some time. And I still can’t find Green Label in Ontario. *sadface*

Ouch, I feel ya fella.
I’m not a fan of Scotch whisky but I sympathise with your pain.
It was a pleasant surprise as I only ordered it yesterday evening.

Well I still have Laphroaig PX and Ardbeg 10, so it’s not all gloomy. I do love my Island and Islays. Just wished they didn’t jack up the price of Talisker 10 so much, it’s not that widely available at duty free since it’s not that famous of a name relatively speaking.

Well a while back a buddy of mine and I went halfsies on an order of a dozen different drams of scotch. We both picked one from the year we were born and I nabbed this Bunnahabhain 23. Well I screwed myself because it was damned amazing. No one near me carries it and I finally found it on masterofmalt.com.
The bad part? $180 shipped to my house. Ouch. I had to order it since it was the last bottle they had in stock.

Master of Malt doesn’t ship to Canada... there’s so much stuff there I want to try.

Oh wow. I figured you guys would be able to have it shipped.
I sort of like Macallan 12. Glenfiddich 12 and Glenlivet 12 are okay. Definitely did not like Laphroaig 10, but the ability to liquidize smoke was mindblowing to me.
The Bunnahabhain 23 was amazing though. I’m a little worried to drink it all before I find something else I really like.

Thedrinkshop delivers to Canada. I enquired about getting a bottle of something delivered to the U.S. yesterday.
They have:-
Talisker 10 year old for £39.44,
Talisker Storm for £42.55,
Talisker 25 year old for 2011 for £230.34 (down from £268.21,
Talisker 25 year old for £274.49.
I’m partial to a 25 year old Campbeltown Springbank.
But about to try a Cumbrian blended whisky.

This one? I don’t see Canada listed.

That’s odd. They ship to America with taxes factored into the delivery price. Does Canada have any strenuous taxes or requirements for importing alcohol?
EDIT:
my other go to site thewhiskyexchange also doesn’t deliver to Canada. Strange.

Something to look forward to when you get home lad.
I hope things are good.

Haha aye. Things are better, got my old job back and sorted, just need to exit my lease on the flat.
Also found out the other lad hired the same time as me to do the same job, is planning to quit. Says a lot about the company...

Ye’, says they need to communicate more about themselves about who they are and what the job requires and entails.
It’ll be good to have you back ‘ooop north’ again fella.

Yeah I have to say I miss the North. I miss being able to do an 8 mile commute in less than 40 minutes and I miss fish and chips that dont taste rubbish.

Ye’, it’s the finer things in life. The stuff not shouted about, the stuff we expect but only appreciate when it’s gone.

Agreed. We spend so much time looking at the bigger picture that we miss simple pleasures sometimes. Since moving here I miss little things like having a couple glasses of wine with family on a friday night, or roast dinner on a sunday.
Im realising more and more that despite being someone willing to work hard Im also not willing to take the burden of work home with me. Id sooner go in for my shift, work hard, then go home with a mind free of stress. Work to live and not live to work and all that.

Good lad.
Some people take years to realise it.
You and the missus take care okay.

We will, she’s a special lady and has had my back throughout all of this. We’ll land on our feet... I hope.

You WILL land on your feet, the both of you.

Thanks, I think we can manage. She kept her job back up north and I have my old one back so at least we wont be broke.
