According to my friend the transmission conversion is pretty simple too. If I had the extra space and money right now...

I’m always looking too.
I just have no space, and would probably prefer a race car project right now. haha

I’m always looking for 02s (and a lot of other cars from long before I was even born). That’s not weird, right?

BMW 2002: A Datsun 510 for people who don’t know what a Datsun 510 is.

If it is then, as the kids would say, I am weird AF.

Ubiquitous popularity. Although honestly, they’re kind of boring in and of themselves as well.

Having driven a roundy tii, I’m gonna have to agree that they’re pretty damn fun. I haven’t driven a normal 2002 to compare though.
I do love 510s as well, and am generally an old school JDM fan over Euro stuff. But my experience with the car was a lot of fun, and I do like the way they look.

I go back and forth on turning mine into a vintage racer or VSP car or just keeping it a hot street car. After going to Laguna for the Historics I’m now leaning towards racecar again but can’t afford to actually race if I ever get it done.

All it needs are fresh bushings, a cage (or even just a roll bar), and some proper tires! You can totally go racing. ;)

Uh huh :) I’m happy to go racing for other people, but paying for it myself? Not on my wages! I got to the point with track days that it was time for slicks, truck and trailer if I was going to progress further, which would easily put a comma in the price tag for a weekend, so I stopped. Ain’t happening with kids and a mortgage.

Yeah. I recently realized a need to stop spending so much and start saving more. So the FR-S’s coilovers, LCAs, header, and the wheels I was planning to use for track wheels will be sold in favor of a cheaper CS-prepped suspension setup with TRD parts, which will allow me to put some money in the bank after buying everything too. Gonna focus more on autocross next year, but still planning to do a few track days.

Perfect car for people with no imagination. What vintage car would you want? Oh, a BMW 2002.

Most people with a 2002 don’t own one vintage car. I’d grab a 2002 if the prices hadn’t skyrocketed. It would go well with my ‘66 GMC and vintage Honda moto.
