He didn’t make it. Small improvement over the weekend, backwards today. We did exploratory surgery, and he had an inoperable tumor. He got a better, more dignified death than most sick old people. He got 14 years, pretty good for a pound dog adopted on his last day.
He was a good dog. He was my friend.

You don’t know me, and I don’t know you, but nonetheless, I grieve with you. Pets can teach us a lot about unconditional love...loving someone you don’t understand.

Dude.
I am so sorry. That just sucks.
I can’t even fathom what I’ll be like when that day comes for me someday. My dog is my baby girl. My wife and I call her our “first born.”

Poor dog. Can’t imagine losing mine though I know it’ll happen eventually. At least he had a good life while he was with you.

Pound dogs are the best dogs.
My sister-in-law’s dad owned a string of five or six little white poodles. He named each one Fred. Fred #2, Fred #3, et cetera. We lost count around Fred #5.

Oh man I'm sorry for your loss. My dog is pushing 16 years old. Legs aren't what they used to be. I hug him whenever I can.

So sorry to hear buddy - you have my sympathy. I’m sure he was a loyal companion and a great friend. For what it’s worth, I’ll give my tamed feral kitty some extra pets for your pup tonight. :]

The feels. Many moons ago we had a Bernese Senna (incorrect but sounds better than Bernese Mountain Dog) with whom I grew up with. Literally the nicest and most peaceful dog imaginable. Unfortunately this race is very susceptible to cancer and sadly she also died from eye cancer, at only nine years old.
