But come on, you shouldnt be surprised since it didnt make much sense for the new Porsche Panamera Turbo (7:38) to beat the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s time (7:39). Granted, ‘Ring numbers are as useful as chromed trimmed steering wheels but the competition and videos make it worth the silliness. Mmmm, supersedans!

That's actually pretty insane when you look at what it's faster than. I also don't understand how a sedan that weighs like 3500 pounds and has about 500 hp is faster than some of there cars. Has tire technology changed that much in the last 5-10 years that it has more grip? Is it the flatter turbo power band? Did they repave the track?

Big changes. Remember that the FWD Civic Type-R and GTI Clubsport S are breaking 7:50. That’s two seconds faster than the last generation Panamera Turbo S which I believe was the fastest lapping sedan when it came out 4 or 5 years ago. So 300hp FWD vehicles are faster over the course than the 500hp last gen German sports sedans. I bet you that by 2020 that 7:50 won’t even make the top 100 times.

I noticed it sounds a bit “Terminator-ish” when the rev limiter kicks in. I love it.

This car is in some good company...still weird seeing the Camaro on this list.
I love watching ring video’s...because of Gran Turismo I know the track so it’s fun to watch their lines and how it looks like the track is constantly trying to kill you.

I know, and looking at the GT350R’s time I’m excited to see what the next Z/28 will be like. I’m betting GM is aiming for 7:29.
