Anyone else sign up and/or get a call about this episode’s taping? They asked me a few questions about my interests with cars, Top Gear, and whether I would bring a female or not (not kidding). Supposedly I’ll be hearing back this week or next with their decision on giving me tickets or not.
Anyone else?

“whether I would bring a female or not”
Is this a frat party hosted by old British dudes

I think they don’t want it to look that way on camera, is the point.

Not much, the questionnaire was pretty short

I guess the thinking is that it’s more appealing to female TV viewers if the back shot or the audience isn’t a sea of guys.

Envious, make sure to wear a blipshift t-shirt if you get tickets.

Which is the same logic people use when trying to get more women into a party. Whether it’s genuine or serves to benefit the straight men present/watching is questionable.

Their logic is not to alienate the larger portion of potential viewers, TV viewing audiences normally sit around 60:40 female to male and they’re trying to target the casual female viewer who wouldn’t otherwise watch a show if it was just all guys (can’t find a direct source but people subconsciously view a show more favourably if there are people “like them” in the audience). I highly doubt it’s to benefit straight males because I’m not watching a car show to look at female audience members.
There’s probably not an altruistic reason behind why they’re doing it, I think they’re doing it to increase viewership and thereby increase ad revenue.

If they actually said “bringing a female” instead of “woman”, bleh. It’s dehumanizing

I should clarify, they didn’t ask like that at all. Apologies for the poor wording.
They asked if I would be bringing a man or a woman along, and I know they are asking because they would rather have more women if possible for it to not seem like such a sausage fest.

I applied, but haven’t gotten a call.
I am willing to wear a wig and dress in drag if you’re selected... ;)

I was called too, they asked for my “dream car.” I panicked and responded “A Triumph TR6 I guess.”

Haha, I said a GT40. The lady on the phone told me that was a popular choice.

I got the e-mail last week on Friday. Received the call today. They didn’t ask if I would be bringing a female, they just asked who I would bring, which I answered my wife. Now patiently waiting for the next e-mail.

I got the call as well. We chatted about music as well, which threw me off a bit. Maybe they have a live band?
Came here looking to see if anybody got the call this week yet.
I have plans to make damnit! Call and let me know!

Same, I’m hoping that the call is still coming, but I feel like I would have gotten it by now if I were going.
