It’s probably a pitot tube so airspeed indication.

Big fan of the AW609. Mostly because it would be a really great gap filler between the short range but versatile Agusta Grands and the long legged but strategically limited Super King Airs in the Air Med fleet for Utah. There are big chunks of Utah that there are no good air lift options for. If you get hurt, you are going to have to wait for the ground troops and it may be a while.

It also will usually have a fairly precise vane anemometer for test flight so the angles of attack and yaw can be measured.

I used to ride in Ospreys a lot, they’re ok now, the teething period was tough though.
