I think the battery for my sump just died. I need help picking a new one.
What’s there now requires maintenance. I want maintenance free, set it and forget it. What are my choices?

My sump pump is an ice cream pail and a 4 pack of Monster. Do not recommend.

One option is a water powered backup. It uses city water to create a venturi and suck the sump water up and out.

I have that one. No power? No worries, as long as you have city water pressure. No moving parts, no failey. Cons: Some cities require you to put in an expensive backcheck valve out of fear that the sump water could backflow into the city system. Also, some cities outright ban them because they don’t want you using city water to pump out your sump.

Ignore the batteries and use water as a backup:

Unless you have a well. Then you’re back to the batteries.

I replaced mine this last winter with a 1/2 hp Everbuilt submersible. So far it’s working great.

I installed the basement watchdog combo pump in my old house. Worked great.
ONLY problem was that I overfilled the battery so the ring terminal connecting the battery would corrode every year.
Other than that it was great.

I have dual sumps, each with two pumps, one in each is battery. I think before the previous owners did their last round of waterproofing it was a very moist place...
Anyways, one’s been chirping at me for quite a while now; the charger was making an awful noise before that. I don’t know if it’s the battery or the electronics, but I plan to recharge the battery off a normal charger and see if it holds.
