Word.

I will not complain about where I’m at. But when 2017 hits, going to update my portfolio and see whats out there. Need that OEM car / product design job to eventually afford a Viper!

My life goal was to own a C3 Corvette. I can now relax and do nothing.

Very nice except the color. I have a problem with red cars that aren’t fast and Italian.

I CONSTANTLY think of my goal of importing a FIAT 126p while I stumble along applying to job after job...pretty disheartening, but scrimping and saving a few bucks here and there to add to my “FIAT Fund” while I work keeps me going...

Just have to imagine myself puttering along Nova Scotia’s country roads with that little 2-cylinder cheerfully thrumming along behind me! :)

My screensaver is the same car but a very clean silver. It is much more appropriate for the car

That's an awesome goal. And far more obtainable than my own. When was that car made? It is a clean design

Well, the 126 was released by FIAT in 1972 and FIAT Italy produced it until something like 1981. However, FSO in Poland bought the license to produce them and THEY produced it all the way until 2000 with few changes other than slight bodywork differences, a different carb, slight interior changes, and electronic ignition. :)

The underpinnings are basically slightly updated FIAT 500 mechanicals. The 500 was launched in ‘57 and it’s last engine iteration in was 590cc or so in ‘75 when it ended - so the 126 engine @ 650cc is basically a bored out 500 engine. 126's have no power ANYTHING, drum brakes all around, a 4-spd manual with no synchro in 1st...manual choke...air-cooled, rear-engined 2-cylinder...

All things considered, it’s not fast at all (100kph prob takes like 40 secs), but they’ll cruise happily at 70-80kph and is one of the purest cars to drive I can think of in the sense of simplicity (I’ve never seen one in person yet, haha, but they are pretty much my favorite car....weird, I know, right? :P).

You can find them in Poland in great shape for like $2k-3k CAD, plus shipping and import fees, so they are pretty reasonable ‘classics’.

Reasonable and interesting it sounds like. It's amazing to me they still offered cars with no synchro in 1st and a carb all the way until 2000. But being one of the only people in the country with one of the cars would be really cool
