"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

For reasons I can’t quite explain I don’t like this. I let the whole “C450 AMG” thing slide, and the numbers-that-mean-nothing switch before that, but this is the straw that broke the opulent, over-engineered camel’s back!

Something is unnatural in that picture about the chrome surrounding the windows and the pillars. Looks like it was applied cheaply as a “dealer option”.

A “Maybach” for less than $200,000? Since when was Maybach for plebs?

A 450 hp twin turbo V8 still seems quite adequate for a limo like this.

It's not about the power. There's something about a V12 that no other engine can have. Also, you want the turbine smooth power that only a V12 can deliver

I’ve cancelled my order for a vastly more expensive Maybach, now that I’ve learned they’ve catered to the likes of

I’ll park it next to my “C430 AMG” and my “A6 S-Line!"

V12s are naturally balanced regardless of angle, V8s only at 90 degrees.

Oh I can explain ... it's a stupid idea. I know - let's resurrect a nameplate that no one remembers or associates with anything, and make gaudy cars based on a perfectly good luxury car! It can't fail!! Even though it did once ...!

I’m waiting for the CLA 250 FWD Maybach, or maybe a B-electric Maybach.
Iwonder if there’s a higher model being planned, and the Maybach name is being moved down a notch. Maybe the top one will be a Zeppelin, no negative connotation there.

4Matic Maybach for states with snow. But yeah, without the V12 it loses quite a bit of luster.
It also loses Magic Body Control which is what gives it such a wonderfully smooth ride.
