and was reminded of the time I owned an Excursion. There’s one semi close to me but I live in Chicago downtown and have ZERO use for one. But how?! HOW!? Do I get convince myself to buy this, do redneck things and streetpark it and not worry about dings and dents?

Not a fan. IMHO, there’s a reason these things aren’t made anymore. The Suburban and Yukon XL are way better.

what’s wrong with the powerstroke? They got rid of the 7.3 in 2003

I owned one of these in the past and loved it but if I was going to get a GM of this vintage it’d have to be an Escalade, I’m a huge sucker for the 2nd gen

CPD would key it. On purpose.
Streets & Sanitation would plow you in at every possible opportunity.
And the pigeons of Daly Plaza would use as their winter home...or their bathroom.

That thing is a pig. The running costs! It nearly 12 years old!
Just get yourself an Outback.

Towing with a family is one of the main reasons people buy those. They’re good, pretty solid trucks but street parking in a city without a reverse camera or anything is abound to be a giant pain in the ass.
The 6.0 diesel was also not that good of an engine. Lots of relaibility issues, you really had to bulletproof them to get optimal performance out. But once they’re bulletproofed, they’ll run forever.
In other words, you’d probably be better off with the 7.3. But the 7.3 isn’t always an option.

The list of issues and problems with reliability of the none bullet proofed 6.0s is horrendous.

A few years back I bought a V10 05 Excursion when I spent the summer on a lake with my friends to tow the boat and what not and I absolutely LOVED it.
Is this a dumb vehicle to own? Of course. But isn’t that why we love oppo?

Oooohhh, I always hear good things about the V10. I’d choose a diesel one over a V10 one though.

My aunt (has six kids, four of whom in a Catholic school with no buses in Southern California) had a V10 Excursion. Definitely spacious enough for the job, but 6mpg was a tough pill to swallow.

6mpg is a small price to pay for so much space!
(I get 11-14mpg in my audi so whatever lol)

I sold a good seven of these in a year as a Ford salesman. Three of them were diesel and they were all returned before that year was out. V10 is a hideous gas eater but more reliable. Get a Land Cruiser or something.

Yeah. I was envying the Land Rover one of my students has a lot but it’s been broken down at the school since Friday. I drive past it whenever I head out. I think Land Cruisers are actually reliable though...

Land Cruisers rule, LX rule too
If they didn’t hold their value so absurdly well I’d look into getting a used one.

Do it! and dont listen to all the people who say the 6.0 is bad. 05 was a good year for them and stock they last as long as any other diesel engine with normal maintenance. If you do buy one you want to do an EGR delete and bigger oil cooler then your good to go

What running costs? Unless you’re referring to the fact that it’s a 6.0, in which case, well yeah.
