Have a brace of Alfas before they made their last journey.
Now, what were they?

First one’s right...

Is that a Fiat 130 sedan in the background of the second pic? Shame.

Is the second a Alfasud/Sprint?

No, they’re gone a very long time!
It’s one of these:
Cortina 80, a facelifted Mk 4.

...is the right answer.

Really? It looks like it has round lights. But yeah, I have to imagine most 130s were gone by 1985.

Here’s a surviving 130 (modern cars in background!).
Indicators and sidelights in the bumpers, different grille and wheelarches.
What you can see on the wreck is I think the reflector. You can see that the surviving right hand light is rectangular.

Pretty rust free example too (by Alfasud standards).

Yes, some of the paint is intact!

Oh yeah, no corner light, that does it all. Maybe an earlier Mk 4? The corner light looks narrower in the rusty car.
The first thing that comes to mind with those Cortinas is “Onslow”. I suppose even with low survival rates, those have little value.

They’re not worthless though if maintained and kept dry.
There’s even one
nearer me

Wow, shocking. Maybe low survival rates help in that regard.
Here, even mint examples of common domestic malaise era vehicles aren’t worth a lot.

Rarity value and ambitious pricing....
I noticed recently that if you wanted to buy a decent, roadworthy Wartburg you’d be paying about €7,000. A similarly roadworthy Trabi could be €2,000 or more. Which is fair enough because when new you could get three Trabis for the price of a Wartburg.

I suppose asking prices are kind of freedom of expression, not indicative of reality. The Ossi cars are at least interesting for their history, and the rrrrring ding ding is fun.
