I have now added a 1991 Toyota 4Runner to join my 91 Alfa 164 and 98 BMW 318ti.
I wanted an FJ60 Land Cruiser and almost bought one at a very good price, but I got into a bidding war and 21 year old me has no hope of winning a bidding war.
That being said, a 4Runner fits my budget and needs better. It doesn’t have the same character and appeal of the Cruiser but it comes pretty close.
In exactly one week I will be driving it across the country from Oregon to where I’m going to school in Pennsylvania. Better pictures of the 4Runner to come.
PS: If anyone lives in the Pacific Northwest and would like to purchase a rather crappy(but running and driving) 164 let me know. 3, unfortunately, is too many at this point.

Keep extra coolant, and watch the temp gauge.

Wouldn’t it be worth putting in a aftermarket radiator?

Yes. More 4runner OPPO

Not really, it works fine. Under hood temps on these are unlike nothing I’ve ever experienced though. That, and going cross country during summer in something with a highly stressed engine, it’s just a good idea.

Either way, it has a newish radiator and a rebuild 50k miles ago. Watching the temp is pretty ingrained in me at this point though, it’s the achilles heel of the E36.
