She looks at an example I sent her and she responded, “That’s cute but I think it has too many miles” Uh ... cute?

So anyways there’s this one which has all needs and most of the wants.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

With spousal approval I just need to get there and drive it and get it to my mechanic for his approval then I just need bank approval.

Lots of approvals.

check the oil pan for plastic. I loved my Sport Trac but it did not have a good ending. I dont think what I experienced was typical though. Do some research on timing belt guides. also if you can find a V8 its only 1 mpg different from the 6

i also still have this:

Kinja'd!!!

it fits perfectly under the rear passenger side seat

thump thump thump

We’ve outgrown car seats but our thirteen year old girl is already taller than the average full grown woman.

I like those even though I don't see them that often, not around here at least.

Plus which, it’s a quad-cab Ranger. Ranger rear suspension, drives like a small truck, like it’s supposed to. Less bulk than a Ridgeline, given the choice I’d go with one of these hands down.

Yeah, seems like a no brainer.

mine ate a timing guide rail. I don’t think its a common problem. It could also be brought on by constantly driving like I stole it. I think the design of there 4.0 changed at some point although I’m not sure when. I don’t think my ‘95 and 04 had the same exact engines despite both being 4..0 V6

It had a decent ride but a massive turning radius.

I’m not 100% on that price for that mileage either. this seems better

Uh... too many miles? 96K is relatively low for an ‘02

Yeah cute ... not sure how that works out. She also said that the Element is painful for her to look at.

The one I showed her first was this one: http://maine.craigslist.org/ctd/5722348008…

Well the one you show is RWD so that’ll make a difference in the pricing.

Be warned, the 4.0 OHC engine has a reputation of destroying the timing chain on the back of the engine. That’s right, there’s a timing chain on the front (like normal), and one on the back between the engine and the transmission. The back one will often shit the bed, because Murphy.

Also the power rear window is awesome

There were two 4.0 Ford Cologne engines. One was a pushrod engine, the other was overhead cam. And your cam chain guide failure is surprisingly common, regardless of how they’re treated. The fun part is that there is a timing chain on the front of the engine, and also one on the back (which makes no sense). I bet you can guess which one fails more often!

Yeah the rear window sounds like an awesome idea.

Yeah, the motor typically has to come out. Kinda sucks. But they make great power right up until they puke that chain guide!

A short timing chain on the front of the engine connects the crankshaft to the intermediate jackshaft. A second, longer timing chain behind the first chain connects the front of the jackshaft to the overhead cam on the left side of the engine.

A third timing chain in the back of the engine connects the rear of the jackshaft to the overhead cam in the right cylinder head.

I can never guess what my girlfriend is going to think about a cars looks or interior, but the weird thing... the really weird thing is she’s always right. Always . Now when I want to know if a car looks good or is nice to be in inside, I just put one in front of her, listen to what she says, and take it as truth. It’s freaky man.
