Don’t you have to do a full RHD conversion to register them?

in looking for a new car I'm debating between the 370z or a jeep but every once in a while my mind wanders and i realize how bad i really want a Maloo. life is not fair and neither are import laws

I wish Australian Utes existed up over.

Don't expect the ones bought up to be given up soon either considering their imminent demise,

Yes. 2014 Mustangs converted for example go for over $100,000 up to $150,000.
The 2016 Mustang GT is available from dealers now for I believe around $85,000.

Don't read my other replies then.

Yeah I’ve read the doom and gloom, unfortunately. Maybe Ford and GM will find a way to get US trucks into your market without the mark-up. Given the popularity of Utes, maybe it’d pencil out for them to ship knock-down trucks there for final assembly to get around any tariffs.

That sucks. Syclones are even more amazing. I guess you can get some decent Japanese ones at least?

We wish American trucks were cheaper here in the U.S.

Well yeah pretty much all of them. At the moment I drive a 105 series Landcruiser myself (that's the solid front axled 100 series) but I wouldn't mind the new F150s and such.

I hope that’s what they do. At the moment though only Dodge seems to have plans and they only involve the biggest models they have. I want the smallest ones they all have (with the biggest engines of course)

I swear, every time I ask an Aussie what they’d most like to import down under they say a big pickup

We are strangely lacking. also in affordable old muscle.

Makes me wonder how much a conversion would cost. Surely it wouldn’t be ~ $80K since ‘14 GTs cost about $20k to $30k around here. Are you talking in US money or AUS currency?
![]() 08/12/2016 at 00:46 |

AUD.
But they are still horrendously overpriced. I’m sure the market will fall out for older mustangs with the new Mustang available locally. I'd rather spend 20k modding a new mustang then buying a stock older model.
The trucks however.

Yeah, although to be honest we’re missing out on a helluva lot more here in the States. We don’t a lot of European, Asian, or Australian classics from the ‘90s and on because of the stupid 25 year import rule. It’s unfortunate because pretty much everything I would ever want from overseas currently fits into that gap, although a pristine Citroen Traction Avant, DS, or CX would always be welcome in my garage ;)

In regards to Aussie classics there is another problem, due to our tiny population, we just never built that many of them.

Didn’t Ford sell F something-or-others in the past in Australia until they realised that the lack of demand didn’t pay them to make them specially in rhd?
![]() 08/12/2016 at 06:27 |

Yes and for the exact reasons you mentioned there is a limited supply of locally delivered cars. I do have memories of my high school girlfriends father owning one, being someone espxcited to ride in it when I was labouring for his bricklaying business during the holidays. And being immediately disappointed,

Holy hell. A lot of people in Australia are losing their jobs.

I have a 2004 100 series and would love to know how the 105 rides compared to it.
