AEM gunmetal gray cold air intake. Installed it to replace the stock airbox that I broke when I did this:
Because I’m an idiot. Busted all kinds of crap under the bumper cover.
Wasn’t expecting a power increase and I didn’t really notice any extra oomph, but throttle response seems a little better and the bogging I’ve noticed on launch with AC on lately seems to have vanished.
Would’ve installed a new headlight today too, but Amazon mixed up some packages and sent me these instead of my headlight:
So now I have to wait for them to restock the headlight and ship it to me. :/ The rest of the parts are on their way from a Mazda dealer that had great prices on OEM pieces. Thinking I might take this opportunity to replace my messed up panels with Mazdaspeed3 panels because they look so much better, but I haven’t made up my mind on that yet.
Also, that CorkSport skid plate was absolutely worth it:
So much easier than it used to be.

Are you going to get wheel spacers to accommodate the wider ms3 panels?

MS3's are wider than MZ3's?

Yep!
4 tenths of an inch. The front fenders are flared to accommodate the wider tires on the ms3.

Is the rear the same width? I know of people who put a MZ3 rear bumbper cover on the MS3.

I think so. I'm not 100% certain

I’ll have to look into it.
I need a new hood (not my fault, PO put a big dent in it), bumper cover, and left fender. I figure if I’m doing all of that, I might as well go for an upgrade like I did with the intake.
If I do go with MS3 parts, I’ll probably just get new 17" wheels with the same width and offset as the MS3 18" wheels because I don’t want slimmer sidewalls, but I do think the rears sit too far in already and the wider MS3 fenders would even it all out.

How’s the induction sound? The throttle response stock is bugging me on mine, not sure if its due to the electronic throttle, or the resonator.

Definitely louder than even the stock box without the resonator. No change in idle, only moderately loud under throttle, but it really makes some noise when I put my foot down. It’s a good sound when it doesn’t whistle. Said whistle shows up under load around 2-3K RPM, but only at moderate throttle, not when I floor it.
