Dealer gift card just covered the 40k maintenence tab, now to spend the balance on other stuff since they will give me an extra 100 if I spend it all today.

Yeah I am so done with this, my next appointment is Nov 1st to give it back. Since I am here I just drove the new wagon, nope taking the money and running.

I think most VW owners share that sentiment.

Service manager said they are highering full time staff whose entire job will to deal with the settlement. Apparently smallet dealers will only have 1 but larger dealers will have 2 to 3 to handle the volume of returns. He also asked what my return date was and November 1 is the earliest he has heard of.

He is also in favor of Skoda coming over as he has heard the rumors as well.

That doesn’t surprise me at all, probably better to hire someone then to tie up someone who could be selling cars with the returns.

Maybe Skoda will replace VW in a couple years, I bet a bunch of car buyers won’t know that Skoda and VW are pretty much the same thing.

Yeah guys I am not putting tires on it if I don’t have too, and most certainly not at those prices.

I’m still torn, I’m working on a spreadsheet of options at the moment. $5,700 and keeping the car which has already lost the value might be more appealing than putting 19k into another car that still has value to lose. I just need to find some depreciation curves so I can project them out.

If mine had any chance of being fixable I would probably keep it but as mine doesn’t have the def tank I don’t expect anothing short of witchcraft or a a drive train transplant will let it pass.

Same here. It is oddly liberating to not care too much about the car.

It does feel weird and was highlighted with the awkward answer to my service advisor’s question of “what are you going to replace it with” being “a Mazda” made for a surreal morning.

Which model? I am starting my search for a new ride this weekend. Gotta get 40+ MPG on the highway and not be a little beatbox.

CX-5 due to small children in car seats and the need to not downsize from my Jetta Wagon. Removing the kids from the consideration I would go with the Mazda3. After all of this gets settled we are looking to replace the older corolla that is our other car and the 3 is a top of that list.
