GenuineAlexReid and I were gutted yesterday when we found that our amazing sidepipes lacked a mount to hold the alternator. Deflated, we towed it to Ital Motors to get the wiring done by pros while we resigned ourselves to waiting three days for the part to arrive. Then THE STAN happened.
Stan saw our plight and took pity on us. He spent all morning calling various local speed shops and found the part we needed! With the alternator bracket in our hands and the wiring in progress, we’re gonna make it.
Stan is the man. The man is Stan. Stan saved the Cletus-Vette. If you see it this weekend, you owe it to that guy.

Speed kills. Stan saves.

Sadly, La Paloma is a pipe dream. Car is at a shop getting wired by people who aren’t idiots like myself and Alex.

There’s still stuff happening at lapaloma?

I did too!

I am confused. How is there any relationship between the exhaust and the alternator? Teach me, please.

GM is stupid. The alternator bolts into a flange cast INTO the exhaust manifold. Our tubular headers have no flange and therefore nowhere to hang the alternator. But Stan bought an adapter that makes it all right like rain.

“GM is stupid.”
Amen Brother!

That one physically hurt. Well played.

Ahh, thanks. I always knew that heat and electrical stuff went together well.

This can be done! Clayton?

Always want to strap electrical stuff DIRECTLY to a vibrating engine when possible

My three-part handy breakdown: GM is stupid, Ford is insane, and Chrysler is drunk - which simulates the effects of insane or stupid depending on degree.

Bruh

Summit Racing did not have this info. It wasn’t even mentioned in the product bio. Painfully aware of the missing hardware now. What a pain.

Bruh (yes I know yours might be a different finish)
Glad you got it fixed though!!!

Id go more often if the drive wasnt so painful.

Hopefully you can get the turn signals working, that would seem quite helpful!

It’s honestly one of our biggest hurdles

Is the wiring just that worn, or?

It's the worst case scenario. Missing wires, trashed unique corvette adapters, wrong wire colora, previous bodges and poorly routed fixes. It's a mess.

Are you just doing a whole re-wire?
![]() 08/04/2016 at 11:51 |

Sigh. Pretty much. I had budgeted 2 days for wiring. Looks like it’ll take a week.

:(
Well, them’s the brakes on a old rough-around-the-edges Corvette I guess! :)
