Afaik the drivers were first awarded starting in 1977. Not too sure though

Oh yeah, the rwd Opel Ascona 400 with Walter Röhrl as the driver.
Iirc Lancia won a constructor’s title or two with the 037 but no world championship. Not too sure though.

Holy shit I had no idea Citroen were so powerful in the rally world! They’ve won as many times as Mitsu, Subaru, and VW combined! I find it funny how Audi has won twice and everyone lost their minds over it but yeah, Citroen’s nine victories are no biggie. Also, Toyota is always under Subie’s shadow in the rallying world and yet they rocked the ‘90s.

Sebastien Loeb really put in work! I respect him so much for that, maybe even a bit more than McRae or Richard Burns or the like. Kinda unfair that Subaru overshadowed Toyota. Maybe it has something to do with McRae and his popularity, but that’s a wild guess.

There are very few things GM cares about less than rally. Also the 037 won the manufacturer’s championship, but not the driver’s championship
