I’m surprised no mention of Debbie, who rigged everything in her favor, stepped down from the DNC, and now leads her general election campaign. The possibility of the first woman president is already tainted due to Debbie’s shit.

Have you ever heard of the phrase “kicked upstairs”? I have no love lost for DWS, but we don’t know how much influence she has on the campaign, if at all. And telling someone that they don’t have to show up for work ever again starting tomorrow isn’t really possible for political figures.

Also, if genuine rigging occurred, they did a remarkably shit job of it.

You guys are really rooting for Brexit: American Fascists Edition, are you?

We shall see whether JTF2 or JSOC have anything to say about that election outcome as well.

As the Wall Street Journal is run by idiots like this, I don’t worry too much about their opinions:

The DNC is a shitshow in general. If they weren’t trying to rig the election, then they were just as careless with it as the FBI said Hillary was with her server.

So, you have two choices: Either they were unbelievably incompetent, or they (poorly, but successfully) rigged it for Hillary.

Either way, they were bad, and those decisions just may cost Hillary the General. God help us. lol

I might use idiots if I were referring to Fock Snooze, but not the WSJ. I think the article I shared does much to put to words the fears that I have about DT getting elected and how that might happen. Still, I think it would be fair to conclude that the Kimberly Strassel piece is much of what DT is talking about, but with a more polished veneer.

Hillary Clinton, as a candidate, as a woman , has much to offer, but she has been too quick throughout her career to fib and that this has seriously undermined her credibility.

I posit that what occurred may well have had less to do about rigging per se than arrogance.

Good morning! May I use a nickname for you, like Mercy , perhaps?

I think Mrs. Clinton has some spectacular traits and experience to offer, but these are tainted by a willingness to be dishonest and expedient . I do not see any traits experience in Donald Trump that recommend him. No friends, for one. I can feel good about electing a woman president, but I just hope we do not have five more scandals in the next 95 days.

Decapitation of a government-elect or an outright coup. Sure, it would bring to a crashing end years of tradition that the military stays clear of politics, but it’s unlikely the US military would follow the sort of orders a 2016 Republican government would give them. And I presume the northern neighbour has a say too.

Bob, I’m not sure I agree with you on this, though the exception I make might seem relatively subtle, and may come down to semantics. I think that being a woman is the one thing that Hillary Clinton genuinely brings to this cage match of a presidential election and which no amount of split lips or black eyes can take away. I suspect, as I said to Opponaut Krieger in this same thread, that the doings of Mrs. Wasserman Schultz may have been more a matter of careless arrogance than of actual rigging. Careless arrogance is a hallmark of Mr. and Mrs. Clintons’ careers and, many Conservatives would argue, of Liberals in general. And I would say it’s a fair assessment.

I like that! :) Mercy is actually my pen name for videogame characters. :D

See here’s the thing, I’m not like others who say DNC = Hillary. I still believe they’re separate entities.

I don’t like the DNC because they have possibly rigged an entire election, and they’ll likely get away with it.

I mostly don’t like Hillary only because of the dishonesty/giving in to financial influencers. It’s madly infuriating, but it’s the current state of politics until we can get them to change.

That said, I think she’ll make a fine President, a historic one at that! She’s pretty much the “safe” pick of the two.

Sadly, I fear Trump has already won it.

May I respectfully inquire, what part of the world do you hail from?

I was startled that you’d bring Brexit into this, or fascism. It is pretty hard for me to imagine a military coup in the USA, though I do encourage every US citizen to enjoy the film, Dr. Strangelove.

If Canada has any real influence on US politics, it seems to me, that the influence is greatly downplayed.

I’m not ready to cede to Donald Trump. I think it’s early and Trump has plenty of opportunities to open his mouth and to thinking people, Trump diminishes himself at every turn. Narcissistic, peurile, bombastic and a bully.

I voted for Barack Obama — twice — not least because he is Black. I have been disappointed by him, but then again, Congress has been a brick wall to him for eight years. I agree that Mrs. Clinton has great potential, but she his hobbled by decades of careless arrogance.

What Trump has already won is the game of being a bully. We have yet to see if this can win him a POTUS election.

+1 for your forthrightness.

I feel that way about my two votes for Barack Obama, but my disappointment in Mr. and Mrs. Clinton for their lying, cheating ways drains me of much satisfaction that I might take in voting for Mrs. Clinton.

The Brexit comparison is that of protest votes going wrong. It’s within your rights and that of everyone else’s to dislike Hillary, Trump, Stein or Johnson, but the latter two are simply not competitors by any metric. A repeat of Nader’s campaign is really not worth it when the stand in for Bush is singularly unqualified for office by nearly every metric, and stands to implement legislation that will effectively repeal civil rights for large swathes of the population. Yeah, the Libertarian platform relies on literally fucking the environment, but the GOP does a little bit more than that.

As for the fascism comparison, read Umberto Eco’s Ur-Fascism . How many of those points does Donald Trump hit? How many of them do his supporters hit?

I live in South East Asia. I’ve got a front row seat if things really go south here. I do not appreciate the concept of me, my countrymen and their regional allies being left to die or at the mercy of PRC imperialism because some fuckwit at the head of The Last Superpower wanted to renege on all its alliances because he has no concept of goodwill and its uses. I do not appreciate my increased odds of being on the receiving end of xenophobic hatred should I come to the United States to work or to live. This is why I care.

I take WSJ seriously, even if I do not always share their editorial opinion. I read WSJ and NYT daily, web editions, plus Reuters and Business Insider (BI for entertainment). I studiously avoid Fox, CNN, MSNBC and the rest, though I do enjoy Jon Stewart. I also listen to NPR daily. I know of no alternative source to pair with NPR that would make an analog with my WSJ/NYT reading.

I agree with you on that - even if the DNC fiasco was simple incompetence, the appearance Wikileaks gave (again, these guys doxed a lot of Turkish people because they could , and probably are a Russian active measures asset), and the press that unthinkingly ran with it are more fuel for... whatever that dumpster fire whose combustion sounds like “Crooked Hillary!” can be described as.

The problem is that, again, Hillary has been subject to attacks ever since her political life began. Several decades worth of memes (in the original sense) and the Republicans’ continued retreat to an echo chamber (I’d liken it to a safe space if it weren’t such an insult to safe spaces) utterly detached from reality, or at least one where you can’t be ejected from the premises for any reason*, make for a volatile mix.

*Social media, to be exact. They’re courting actual neo-Nazis now...

Protest vote: I think the only thing worse than the spectre of Donald Trump presiding over WWIII is the thought of him gloating about being POTUS for the rest of his life.

A repeat of Nader’s campaign: I hadn’t thought of it in those precise termes, but now that you mention it, that sums up how I viewed Bernie Sanders initially.

Umberto Eco: I have to do some homework here.

Your perspective is helping me with mine.

I’d be interested to learn a bit more about you, if you are comfortable. We could share an email offline. Thanks.
