I took a day trip to Provincetown recently just to get away. Did not think to check ahead if there was anything going on. Turns out it was Bear Week. A very hairy guy called me Cutie.

Back in the early days of the internet, my roommates and I were looking through stuff on usenet. We worked at a regional ISP and we’d just gotten a HUGE new hard drive to store articles. It was 9GB, so now we could retain newsgroups for a couple weeks, except for the binary groups.

Anyway, we were looking through newsgroups and there was some pic sharing adult newsgroup that had “bears” in the group name. None of us has any idea what that meant. So we clicked and were totally unprepared for what we saw.

However I now know that if I ever wake up gay, I already have a classification.
