I’ve started researching the process to replace the fans. I’ve ordered my lube as suggested by Jake and will be wearing lace per Cazzyodo. (no I wont)

but joking aside I’ve found a couple options. First would be just to replace the fan which is a lower cost, the second is to do an electric conversion which is supposed to free up some HPs.

if i were to do the fan, I could also do the Secondary Air pump probably within the same cost as the conversion. If I do the conversion I dont have to worry about the fan clutch.

So which of you actually bought this? 709 is a lot of 55 gallon drums to sell.

until Subaru brings the Levorge to the US

until an RS in under $20 not wrecked

I’d reconsider the lace thing. Nothing like something frilly to make you feel oh-so-pretty! ^_~

Wait, is the fan for the noise? My 2.8's fan made a god awful noise that sounded like a water pump. I took the fan assy. off, took the fan blade off, added a washer between the motor and fan, tightened, installed fan, and whamo, the sound was gone :]

well the fan is cracked and needs to be replaced. I’m hoping that it being cracked is the cause of the noise.

I did the similar on my C4, didnt have the chance when I had my 2.7.

I went with a 16" spal fan controlled by flex a lite variable speed controller. No kits existed for the C4 so it was all custom. Also I wanted the quietest/strongest fan I could get in stock shroud, and the controller already had provisions for a manual on, off, plus AC integration.

what do you think of the JHM kit? would it be worth it or do you have a better suggestion?

Well its all about what you want. (I realize I come out my face like everyone is willing to get dirty lol)

The Jhm kit, just does all the shopping for you, and if its all you need I guess save your self the effort and get their kit. I went custom cause it allowed for more options fan wise. I wanted something quiet, but was plenty powerful, while allowing for more integration. The main part of my set up was the controller.

I got all the parts from amazon, and already had some basics like wiring supplies etc. (I also tinker for personal therapy)

Not sure how much the C5 mirrors the B5s heat soak, Cant imagine the few inches more of engine bay does all that much, but I would go full ham. On my 2.7 I had 2 8" fans in front of the radiator, plus the 2 stock ones behind.

Overall EFK is dope cause of the rotational weight savings.

So, Sir, its all about how serious do you want to be.

It’s possible. I eventually changed the secondary air pump also because it was supper noisy as well when I did the timing seals. Plus all the hoses while I was there.
