Where have i seen one of those before?
Oh yeah on my jag. The same place the grand wagoneer* got it’s side mirrors.
I’m starting to think there was a secret black market parts sharing program between jaguar and Chrysler.
*I have no way of knowing which car adopted them first.
SidewaysOnDirt still misses Bowie

Chrysler hardly touched the SJ. It would have been AMC’s doing.

AMC almost always borrowed before building.
But.. The hood catch dates to 1963 on the Jeep.

in the early ‘80s, you could get GM engines and Chrysler transmissions in the AMC Concord.
not together, unfortunately; the ones with the Iron Duke were stick shift.

I did not know that!
Did you know that AMCs V8 engines shared an oiling system with Briggs and Stratton?
Kidding.. Their oiling systems were atrocious though.

If that Jeep really is a Kaiser and hasn’t had a face swap, then Jag stole the hood latch from AMC, who got it from Kaiser, who got the entire Jeep brand from Willys, who stole it from Ford, who stole it from American Bantam, who stole their early car designs from Austin, who got a lot of the their design features on the Seven stolen by Chevrolet, who got it stolen by Ford, who got it stolen by Chrysler, who stole their airflow design from Tatra, who got their flat engine design stolen by the VW Beetle, which shared a few . . . . . distinct similarities (design, shape, rear engine) with the later (watercooled) Renault 4CV, which was succeeded by the 4, which stole from the Citroen 2CV, whose flat engine design was inspired by BMW R32, which BMW made because they couldn’t build arms after the treaty of Versailles, much like they couldn’t build arms after WWII, which led to them building the Isetta, which they got from Iso, who also had their design stolen by the Heinkel Kabine, which borrowed its engine from the Heinkel Tourist, which was a crib of the Goggo scooter, which was made by Glas, who made the Glas V8, whose design was stolen from the Maserati Quattroporte, which competed with the Jaguar Mark X, which had it’s front end design stolen by the Jeep Wagoneer.
