Was angry last night at the driver in the aztec who passed me in a residential neighborhood doing 45+ while I was already doing a generous 35 (in a 30), so I gave him the full furry of the lightbar...first time its really come in handy. Still, I wish that it was chemical lasers instead of just LEDS...
Gear oil stinks. SOOOO bad. And it sticks around for ever.
Shopping for a car to replace the Nox Box, my wife says to me last night: “I think lets just get something cheap, like $7000.”
“but you still want a wagon?”
“yeah”
“and it has to be German?”
“Or a Volvo”
“and low miles?”
“Well, whats low miles to you?”
“well, let me ask you that questions...”
“no more than 50,000 miles.”

Thinking very strongly about an XC70 CPO or something with an extended warranty.

Wait...is this the first time in recorded history someone uttered that an Aztec passed them?

She likes XC70's. Not thrilled about going from nearly 50 highway mpg to sub 30...but they are nice and big like she wants.

Well, I was driving my cruiser. Passing a land cruiser is like getting wet in the rain...its not hard to do.

Funny you mention the light bar. A fully tarted up JKU was driving like a maniac in a restaurant/shop area yesterday with both (winch and roof mounted) LED light bars on, during broad daylight. Tool. That’s the first vehicle I’ve seen with those lights on, on paved roads.

I lied, I did use mine once driving on some rural roads late at night not long ago. No traffic. I have to say, they are a blessing and a curse...they are actually so bright as to readjust your iris so when/if you have to turn it off, its like putting on sunglasses...which can be bad. That having been said, people get too excited to try these things out (because they don’t ACTUALLY have a need, they need to invent one) and many tools are born.

Do keep in mind that if the transmission was built by Opel, it will probably explode.

Well you’ll be hard pressed to get a wagon that’ll do 50 highway mpg.

yeah, gear oil does reek. even the fully synthetic 75W-90 I put in the bike’s trans stinks. my guess is that the additives which improve its shear performance just have a lot of sulfur in them.

My “new” (to me) 1961 Ford has bumper-mounted spotlights for reverse lights, controlled only by a dash-mounted switch. I have been waiting for the day when some tailgaiting jackass high-beams me. Not to mention, my rear bumper is about 12" deep and solid 1/4" steel, mounted directly to the frame, so good luck if you make contact. And the tailgate has in tall reflective letters, KEEP BACK 500 FEET because fire truck. So there’s no excuse!
The lights aren’t bright enough to cause any real danger, but they should convey a clear message. I’ve always wanted something like that for high-beaming idiots behind me, now I’m just biding my time... it will be great.
