The nicest one is the one most vulnerable to dings, though.

Haha if you’re talking about my old grandpa brown one, I got out at the same time as the truck owner who is another intern. No dings this morning.

Newish Lexus always means “can’t drive.”

Nice car! I'm a huge fan of first and second gen LSes.

Depends on which Lexus. LS, LX, GX, and GS are fine. IS’s are more like Bimmers, and everyone knows the RX rep. I mean when I drive my parents RX400h (with a Jalopnik worthy 344,000 miles) I even turn into one of them. NX is still finding its rep but so far I think they're in the “fine” group.

Thanks! It needs a lot of work after 298k but I had the opportunity to basically trade it for a 4 year newer LX with 1/3 the miles and said no. I love this car.

It’s got at least 700k left

IS drivers are more likely to pretend to be Bimmer drivers, but there’s more to being unable to drive than driving like a dick. I’d say that in general, LS and GS drivers are in the RX camp.

If I can get the transmission swapped out to hopefully cut the virbation at speed, the front end replaced to tighten it up, body work done from being a teenager, and the seats repaired because those just get old... Absolutely.

Ive never really noticed LS and GS drivers though. The IS looks better then the Bimmer these days.

I used to live in Florida. They’re the ultimate old person cars down there.

I didn’t know that generation Silverado came with an LS.

God dammit I want an LS400. I have no need or use for one, and they are pretty much nonexistent in France, but I need one right now.

To be fair, nobody in the past 10 years has been able to see out of an IS.

This is not Matt Farahs Million Mile Lexus. This is my 1/3 of a Million Mile Lexus.

I didn’t know there was a Silverado of that generation that clean!

Import one IMO. they are about as good as it gets.

There are a couple for sale in France as far as I can tell, and pretty cheap as well (cheapest is ar 3.5k euros). I just need it to wait a couple of years for me to find an actual job...

Or you could do the irresponsible yet jalop thing and just pull the trigger and get one.

Don’t have the funds, and can’t get a loan without a job! Pretty much all I have is my Renault Clio that I could sell for about a thousand bucks, but that’s it. Not enough to get the Lexus, and I’m not even talking about caring for it.
But you bet that as soon as I can, I will! There’s just something that does it for me. Is it the unabashed comfort? The bulletproof reliability? The understated yet imposing design? Or even just the sheer rarity of the thing here (never seen one in person)... I don’t know. It just works.
