I now officially own a thing that has them. It is made in japan, diesel powered, has a manual transmission, manual 4x4 with creeper reduction, and is approximately 23 years old. Guesses? You win nothing but braging rites, and pictures of the thing in question.
We have a Winner! CalzoneGolemn may or may not have looked at my past posts, but he *DID* correctly guess that it’s a 1993 Ford/Shibaura 1720 4x4!
cat has to check it out...
loaded on the (borrowed) trailer
included implements... (minus the 5' brushhog)
The GF
Every turnbuckle in the 3pt is rusted and refuses to move :P soaking in Blaster, gonna torch it tomorrow/add more blaster... I cracked the rear window trying to undo the snub nut on the top link :/
Also, I would note for those of you unfamiliar, the resale value on mid-90's Japanese compact diesel tractors is absolutely insane. Now, admittedly, we did get a 60" snow blower, 7108 FEL (front end loader), 5' Rhino Brush hog, a 72" grader blade and a Sims cab (not OEM, after market, but it works), and this one is loaded with live PTO, remote hydraulics, and the “SSS” (Super Shuttle Shift) but we paid only about $4000 less than it’s *NEW* sale price 23 years ago. We thought we got a pretty deal, given the condition, low hours, and accessories. That little 1.5L 3cyl, 28hp diesel runs like new. We could probably throw a coat of paint on it, fix the stuck turnbuckles on the 3-point and sell it for a profit tomorrow. *CRAZY* resale value.

Is it a Kubota, Satoh, or other tractor?

Coming here for Kubota, or maybe Komatsu if we’re talking really heavy stuff.

The reason I threw in Satoh for fun is that 4x4, portal axles, and the rest do not by any means mean a big tractor. My dad had a Satoh Beaver like this for years, which hits all the points.

Aren’t portal axles common on smaller 4x4 tractors in the US?
Asking b/c (to me) they just make so much sense, I would think that they would be common. Quick google search seems they are at least an option on Kubota, JD, Yanmar*, and New Hollands (among others I’m sure)
*Didn’t know smaller JDs are in fact rebadged Yanmars “insert “the more you know” meme here”
