It’s an arty-farty bistro sort of eatery (like many of them these days).

Regular burgers from McDonalds are cheap (£3-4) and pub burgers and chips come in at £7 usually, gourmet pub menus are £8-10.

£15-20 (€18-24) per person is about right for a meal and a drink.

Anything remotely close to eatable in the UK is going to be expensive. Man, does this country suck hard when it comes to food.. Really, no idea how they survive there. Every time I go there I try to stay less than 24h, so that I don’t have to eat. If I have to stay more, I drink instead and eat fish and chips. But don’t you dare order anything, really ANYTHING else.

No, no, just no lol... I know it and my goal is not to be fed for 2 days. It’s to sort of enjoy what I’m eating and Shepherd’s pie is not going to make me enjoy anything. Especially since I have yet to meet a Brit that can cook meat without making it taste like a shoe sole. :)

They freaking boil everything!! And if they don’t boil it, they steam it instead. I still have nightmares made of potatoes boiled with the skin floating around the poor thing, not even connected to it anymore. Going there is borderline torture for me thanks to their food. Worst is that I have to go there 5 or 6 times a year lol

Man, Paris is so overrated....I hate everything there. Traffic, sightseeing, the people....a lot of people know how to speak English but as soon as you ask them something, it’s ‘Ne comprends pas’. Ow really? No one in Paris speaks English? Well, excuse the f*ck outta me for not speaking that enormously ‘romantic’ language. It’s like arrogance rules the city.

Except for the food though. The French kitchen, and I mean the real kitchen, not cheeseburgers, is...wauw.....

For a quick lunch, you’re better off just picking up a baguette and finding something else from a local market - I found a vendor at an outdoor market that sold this awesome cured pork and was the only thing you needed with the fantastic bread.

This is why when I am in Switzerland, I eat food bought in supermarkets, or maybe splurge on a cafeteria-stype department store cafe now and then. No $40 pizzas or $5 cups of hot chocolate (made from a mix) for me. Although the ~$30 raclette wasn’t bad, and I did have a $42 breakfast buffet once.

No, of course not. I’ve been there at least a dozen times and survived the experiences.

I’ve also been to Italy, where many people really don’t speak English if you go away from touristy areas and I didn’t come back whining about the “arrogance” of people daring to speak their own language in their own country.

Worse than that, I actually had to live there for over a year, in different host families when I was younger. So I didn’t really have a choice food wise.

And you do find different types of food if you stick to bigger cities. Most places I have to go to only have a pub that does restaurant and it’s where I have to eat. It sucks, all the time the food is just utterly terrible.

But yeah, when I stay in cities like Southampton or Exeter, I usually go to Italian restaurants and get pizzas. They are not good by Italian restaurant standards, but at least I can finish my plates lol
