Rural Free Delivery. Post office had to give people who live in the middle of nowhere some sort of address, and these unnamed roads became numbered “RFD” roads. For example, if you lived on one, your address could read something like “RR6, box 21" meaning yours is the 21st mailbox on Rural Route #6
