I had to resolder just about every pin connection but it was worth it!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The 512ke isn’t worth that much, but I don’t care. I’ve always wanted a compact Macintosh and now I have one, and the box!

Kinja'd!!!

I really want to cary it into the campus coffee shop and use it.

We’re getting our first one this fall. We also have a division 1 FBS football team.

Some nerd in Redmond WA would pay you a lot for that ...

Good job bringing it back to life!

You probably had to resolder joints because of popped caps. I know the analogue board is particularly bad for them.

Nah, most collectors want the 128k or a straight up 512k. The 512ke is the weird one between the 512ke and the Mac Plus.

Like how much space would it really take up. And it’s something people would use. Not like some other stuff.

I’ve seen this trend - people collecting ancient computers. My goal is to get the 6S Plus the GF is turning off (Japan carrier) to replace my 6S. And yes - more computing power than that thing or Apollo 11, but we have to keep these things in perspective.

I’m hoping this thing does get more valuable with age, but for now it’s just a piece of timeless design that I can keep on display.

And why not? I have a Lava Lamp - it makes me happy. It does nothing useful, but it does that.

I used to collect retro hardware. I had a fully functioning Lisa with the external 10MB hard drive and the full set of software, which I discovered was locked to a ROM on the motherboard. My machine was a frankenLisa built up out of the best parts from two separate machines, so I had to swap that ROM chip from one motherboard to the other. My machine had the 3.5" drive, so it was a later revision (or an original machine upgraded) than the ones that came out at release. I also had a couple “twiggy”floppy drive mechanisms, but they were non-functional.

Do you want an old Ferrari licensed F1 racing game for it? I still inexplicably have one on floppy disc, in the box. I might still have the Corvette game too.

That sounds really cool. I can only imagine what the graphics are like.

By the standards of the time, they were good, as I recall. All yours if you want it.

I want it, but I broke both my floppy drives and need to replace them. They wouldn’t eject after years of sitting and I destroyed some stuff.

But I’m interested.
