It's made in 1936 and still works perfectly! I'll be using it eventually to sew the seat covers and other bits of interior trim for the Spitfire. Til then it can just sit there looking fantastic :)

My sister has one of these. Different coloring and detail on it, but same machine for sure.

Good to know if ever I fancy becoming Dr Frankenstein, or suddenly find myself a Pratchett-style zombie...

There was a video of a guy trying to spin one of those as fast as possible. The washing machine motor died first.

Hah :) great stuff. I don’t usually buy into the 'they don't make them like they used to' thing, but sometimes they really don't...

And again, I inspired someone to change their name, I already inspired ‘Car Guy, Twingo Tamer’ twice in the past.

Let us mourn the Singer Building, once the tallest in the world, and the tallest building ever to be peacefully demolished:

Some things are better new. Household things aren't.

Lovely thing :) we've got the metal framework for one of these, although it's not a Singer one. Does duty as a little outside table with a slate slab on top, and used to be my computer bench :)
