Thing I don’t understand: How the hell is the Buick Cascada 400lbs heavier than the Camaro convertible (not exactly a lightweight vehicle itself)? I guess both are lighter than your “Camaro”...

The Camaro is on the lightweight Alpha platform. The Cascada is on the Delta 2 platform, which has been around since 2008 and wasn’t designed with light, premium/sports cars in mind.

It's also because the Vauxhall Astra Convertible has this heavy roof.

Unless some cunning lightweight construction scheme is used, I doubt it.
The Vauxhall’s weight is a strange case, that’s for sure.
