I doubt it. From all I’ve read the pedestrian Mazda 3 is a far better car to drive than the Pulsar. As such it must be far easier to create a good hot version of the Mazda.

But they won’t - that’s the problem. Bullets dont work if nobody pulls the trigger.

This news was reported awhile ago, as well as on the FP. I’m waiting for a Mazdaspeed6 though.

However, if you read the actual quote from Mazda, and not the summarized articles, you’ll see what the Mazda rep actually said was, they wanted to do the higher powered models in the “right way.” So less like the “childish” looking Focus ST and RS with hood scoops and vents everywhere, and more “classy” like the Golf GT or Golf R.

So they still want to do them, they just want to move them upscale a bit in terms of how they drive and how they look. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

It's so pretty. I want it. Granted, as much as I'd love a MS3, I drive too much to justify one. My normal 3 will have to do.

Good stuff. But I’m still concerned because Mazda has gone nowhere with the effort. The Kodo design is fantastic and the company has shown no hesitation transitioning it across their product spectrum, from the native Mazda6 (which my wife drives) through the entire SUV lineup and right on down to the Miata. And yet they can’t find the courage to work a hood scoop into the dang thing?

Grumble.

Well guess what Mazda? Most enthusiasts are childish. No fun no buy.

yeah... not real thrilled about the recent tack by Mazda. I was on the Mazda website just last night looking at the 3 with the 2.5 motor - first, you have to get the most loaded up version with the sunroof (so I don’t fit...) and then it’s w/in a grand of a WRX. Don’t get me wrong - it’s a fabulous little car. But over $30,000 for a compact hatch that isn’t your performance model? Come on Mazda - wtf...

No speed3, but we do get the hideous and unnecessary CX-3!
