I desperately need help. I don’t know what to do. Buffer image.
When I get my Lego Technic Porsche 911, do I build it, or leave it in its box and sell it for profit once it gets discontinued?
A set like this is going to more than double its value the second it’s discontinued, provided it’s still sealed in the box. I could build it, which would be awesome, but I’ll have nowhere to display it since it’s so big. And once I build it... that’s sort of it?
Help me out, Oppo.

Buy two, break even.

Sell it with profit and buy more Lego

That’s $646.18 though.

If you have no way to display it, leave it sealed in box and sell for profit.

But if you break even, who cares?

Ooooo this is definitely the right plan

Over the course of your life are you going to be more upset about:
A) Missing out on a few hundred dollars
or
B) Buying this and never touching it, only to let it escape.

I am planning on building mine. I don’t care that it is already going for $400+ on ebay. I would rather have the epic set than turn a profit by scalping others.

Where can you store it?

I’m brilliant.
#HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Build it and enjoy it. I could have done the same thing with my old Enzo model but its too cool to not build.
Edit: I just looked up the price and NIB is selling for roughly $1300-1400. Not a bad return over 10 years for a $300 investment.

Tbh I don’t like the looks of it (the lego version) so it’s easy for me to say keep it for a while.

Those are good points you made.

Not really anywhere at the moment.

Has the Porsche bubble really gotten to this level?

Buy set
Open set very carefully
Save packaging
Build set
Unbuild set when you’re bored of it
Replace pieces in packaging
Create false identity
Move to a new town under false identity
Seal pieces in packaging with duct tape and superglue
Live in false identity for several years
Put Porsche set in safe place
Become false identity
Register at Toy Show and Hobby show as a dealer under false identity
Take Porsche set out of safe place and bring it to Toy Show
Sell it, along with fake Hotwheels Redlines, fake baseball cards, Comic Books, etc, at Toy Show
Run for Senate under false identity
Lose Senate race, but use publicity to win election for Sheriff of small town where you live under false identity
Use Law Enforcement powers to murder the guy who you sold the Porsche set to
Civil Forfeiture Porsche set
Repeat process above
Fake death
???
Profit

Answer: Buy 2, one to build and the other to cover costs.

They are also going to be worth a ton used so you could do that.

Option 3: Gib to Spaceball.
Tis best option

Option 4: shank Spacetesticle’s bitch ass.
I like that one more, to be honest.

Keep it in the box then

Keep it either way, and if you get to building and displaying it, great if not, it’s still an option. I probably won’t get to building my Technic LMP for awhile, but it’s nice to know it’s there.

buy two

A friend finances their lego habit by buying 2 of every big kit, building one and carefully storing the 2nd. When it goes out to production they sell the stored one for 2-3 times its value and buys more lego. They’ve been doing it for over a decade and have thousands in lego and a small profit to show for it.

Leave it in the box. Your post prompted me to check the values of the FXX and the F430 as I have both (and I built them). The F430 has not gone up much but the FXX is on Amazon for $605!

Buy two, build one, sell one for the double the price, you have a free Lego

Isn't that the plot of Banshee on Cinemax?

I’ve never seen it, but apparently they’re very similar (going off of Wikipedia here.) This means only one thing:

Option 3: Buy 200, hold for 10 years. Triple your money, use profits towards a REAL porsche.

I hate to tell you this, but that orange car doesn’t look anything like the red car.

Why waste money buying something you'll never use? The whole idea of buying something new just to sit on it in the hopes of profit just doesn't make sense to me.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 17:48 |

I've kept all the packaging. I've built it but buying two and leaving one sealed did cross my mind.

It’s not air cooled, it won’t appreciate, you looney. :p
![]() 06/29/2016 at 19:00 |

Holy shit, why didn’t you just buy me louvers instead?
![]() 06/29/2016 at 19:16 |

Because you car is worth less than those damn louvers.

Uhm... build it. What fun is having it off you don’t build it. Just hang out on your wall when finished. Then paint a race track on the wall for the porsche to hoon on.
